Maybe its just because its the beta but there isnt nearly the level of talk in dow 2 that there was in coh.

In coh your units gave valuable feedback and information, while providing a much higher immersion to the game cause your guys are screaming and crying and all that other stuff they did in coh.

it doesnt even seem near the same level here. Maybe they havent included all the sound files. I dont know but it seems odd that Everyone and thier mother praised coh for having set a new level for sound, only to have it diminished back to a standard rts level in dow 2.

I am disappointed by the sound too. I really loved the samples from DOW, I was laughin my ass of after I heard the Dread the first time in DoW. It was so great, su ÜBER! It was suitable, great, sounded good and was just: YEAH

And DoW2 lacks that greatness of the sound. I have even problems with hearing my Squads, the music is not as good I expected and.... I dont know, it seems not to be finished. The sound is some sort of sound-pulp. Which is annoying to me.

The Bolters sounds are a bit strange too, reminds me too much on a MG42 or a .50 from CoH. It is just not kicking your ass. The voice-examples are more than boring mostly, have not the "I would die for the empeor"-character.

Fail - again.

A lot of people share your sentiment:

Personally, I'm waiting for release before I pass judgment.

i like the sounds that are currently in game. but there doesnt seem to be the depth that coh had. your troops told you, coming up the right flank. or we getting slaughtered. or laughed at pathetic small arms fire attempts on heavy armor.

I really just hope they cut alot just for size issues.

Yeah I see what you mean, but you have to keep in mind that the sound in CoH was AMAZING. I hope DoW2 matches it, but if it merely comes close I will be satisified

I don't remember personally but alot of people are saying CoH sounds were stripped down for beta, so I'm just hoping thats the case here too.

From a dev standpoint, it seems that the level of detail put in to CoH in terms of unit animations and sounds must have been more of a nightmare than anything else; it helps that there were only 2 factions which were, either way, populated by humans :P I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get the same level in DoW. That is, of course, also part of the multi-army dynamic. For each race you have in the release, you can only put out a smaller and smaller fraction of content for that race.

I took a peek at the speech files for each of the "talking" races and they seem to have quite a lot of lines maybe even more than CoH ,so maybe it's not fully activated for the Beta ?

Incomplete. The game is going to be a 6 gb install, and we have 2 gbs.

We are missing maps and campaign content- neither of which would peak 2 gb by themselves, at the VERY WORST. (Map info is small).

We're missing a ton of models, sounds, and animations from the final versions- little things that have been shaved off to keep the download small.

I have a feeling we'll see a ton more flavor and artistic pretties after release. What we have right now is the tripped down, raw, functional game so that we can test for balance, and balance only. It's too early to pass judgement on art and sound.

I agree, just like they said that they will be putting persistent vehicle husks in the game like coh etc and a bunch of other little stuff here and there, i'm sure that applies to sound fx and other things as well.

I saw another poster on here saying the COH beta was exactly in the same boat as dow2 is now: the beta only had the lowquality soundpacks in it and that the retail verion's 'full' high quality soundpacks were night and day in difference.

So here's to hoping that they step it up since many of the sounds in game are either missing or low quality (really muffled and quiet sounding)

Lol, you guys have to remember this isn´t the final version and as said above by Pathen the download had to be kept small or restrained because even these 2,3gb are too much for many players.
