AFAIK it's not in. Not that you'd micro your ass off in this game, but still, the more options the merrier.

would be decent just to have it on all the time so that when you retreat you only have to look back and see that your units have reinforced back to full strength

So how are we supposed to manage our economy then?

Well I don't know about you but Reinforcing squads to me is 100% priority. The option could be there to turn it on if you want and reinforcing doesn't cost much (Except for space marines).
It's much better to have that half beaten squad back up and running fast then to build up your economy while you lose map control you could be holding with that unit (Thus actually lowering your economy)

So.. the people complaining that the game has been dumbed-down are miffed over the lack of overwatch? :p

Manhammer, that just made no sense to me, honestly.
I never really thought it is dumbed down, I quite like it. I just thought it'd be easy to implement so why not? I could live without it.

Certainly but sometimes priorities must be changed such as etc, upgrading melta bombs for oncoming vehicle. What caught my attention was that you said ''all the time''.

in DoW1, overwatch was the way to spot the noobs :P I don't think we need it here, there's not exactly much to keep track of.

I thought it might come in handy when you wanted to build a certain unit after reaching a new tier, but as I said before it's not that essential.

Overwatch would be completely useless to me. I barely have enough resources as it is and I don't want to accidentally hit the wrong button and spam Scouts.
What could be kind of nice is to overwatch the reinforcement button. Most of the time, if I retreat back to base, I'll need squad members anyway so it'd save me a few key presses of "R" but it's not a huge deal. It'd probably cause more problems than it would solve.

Well i think there are three points which should be discussed in term of the overwatch situation.
1) Imo the minimap is kinda messy its a bit small and you cant really see your troops clearly on it
2) That the overlay map from company of heroes is missing is adding to the minimap problem. The overlay map would heavily increase the amount of total knowledge not only off the location of your tropps but also it would be very useful in teamgames which tend to be a big mess sometimes and of course it would come in very handy if you would watch replays to know where the party is at.
3) The unit handling, teamselection and unitabilities are also very micro intensive. I dont understand why your army, if you have given them a number, shows up as small pictures on the right side at the bottom. I mean in this game youll have very rarely more then 20 different units why cant the unit pics be bigger so that you can clearly differ form the different units. I can barely see which units ive sent to cap a point but in contrary the more or less very big and useless pictures of every unit you have show up at the right side of the screen.
I mean if you select a unit the abilities of this specifig unit are at the right bottom, if you use one and want to change the unit in your army by selecting the army number youve chosen youll end up exactly at the same location with your mouse so it yould be nice to have the coh implemented system back.
P.S. The attention beacon for the minimap should emit a louder sound to be noticed by your teammates in intensive battle

Sorry, was making a fairly poor joke on how I found it amusing to see the lament of a lack of overwatch in one thread and loads of cries of "DoW 2 is too dumbed down!" in the impressions thread :)
Not both from you, mind. Just in general ;)

I was kinda thinking the same, thanks for clarifying.

Since the unit sizes are much smaller in scale, it's not necessary imo. Especially considering how quickly units reinforce.
