Hi, I was wondering if anybody else is quite annoyed by the HUD in DoW II. The buttons just seem to small and the group selection on the bottom just doestn't seem to work for me. I'm soo used to being able to see my units in the centre of my HUD like in CoH or DoW 1, but here, it's just soo small that I ha d to look for 5 minutes before I even found it.
Am I the only one who thinks the HUD is euhm.... "crap"?

As told before: Many ppl say that and I think so too. It is too small, to fiddly. And it even looks not good to me. So, yes - its crap. But it could be even worse. I want my old DoW-Style (typcial RTS UI) back.

Not only was the DoW 1 GUI easier to use, it was more distinctive and characteristic because it was stylized for each faction.
To me, DoW 2 having one generic GUI for everybody is a step back

I think the UI is awesome. Its not intrusive anymore.

yea the current UI is bs, its nice to be able to just look at at instead of having to sit right infront of your PC, i like to sit 2 or 3 feet back and just play casually some times but with the new UI i have to sit right infront of my PC

i think its awesome, it allows me to see whats going on on screen while still being able to have (almost) everything i need
only thing i think they should add are some sort of dmg values

Ever notice how it was much easier to micro your troops when the DOW 1 HUD was minimised ? It took up too much room !

I commend Relic for removing a lot of useless hud from the game. DoW1's hud was god awful other than the unique faction theme it had going for it.

The DoW1 HUD wastn't great, but I found the CoH HUD working EXTREMELY well.

I'd like some bigger icons. And I'd like to be able to target using the upper right hand corner squad bar. Other than that, I could live with the UI. Unrelated: but I NEED freakin' under attack notifications. (No, 'hormagaunt lost' doesn't cut it.)

I hate the interface cant stand it but that is all perferences by the player, some like it most dont.

I really hate the new UI, I think they had to try really hard to fuck it up like that.
The resource income is too small and the line where it's standing too crowded. I could live with the small buttons cause after a while you only use shortcuts, but overall it's the worst UI I've ever seen I think...

I don't like it. What I don't like more though is that control groups are kinda shit now bc when you only want one squad to use an ability, they all do it. But you only wanted one to do it. Now you've wasted 2 or 3 abilities and can't get em back any time soon...

No, and I find micromanagement harder now with this stupid hud because I have to individually select squads, because of the issue brought up by compeador.

in CoH when you tell a group of the same unit to use an ability the whole group uses it. the only difference was if you only wanted to only use one lets say grenade. you could select one unit in the control group push tab a few times and now your selecting the whole group again. not sure if this is possible in DoW2 didnt need too :P otherwise i like it. its a little more creative and im not going to shame relic like crazy just for trying something new. i mean look at starcraft.... then look at starcraft 2..... the UI is EXACTLY THE FRIGGIN SAME!!!! but i will admit its a pretty good one.

If you guys want DoW1 with better graphics, go back and play DoW1... this is a sequel and things are going to be different.
Relic didn't want to go the SC2 path and keep it the same but better visuals. I like this game. The HUD is not in the way anymore and I don't understand what people are talking about when things are "too small"
Can someone post screens/examples?

Some of it may just be art/unit design, but distinguishing termagaunts/hormagaunts is certainly a pain. Same with tacticals and devastators. Really, would it have killed them to make the unit portraits twice as big in your command groups? And they waste a TON of space on the giant unit portrait. Give me less of that, and more of the units in the command groups.

I find it pretty much impossible to read the amount of zeal I have without focusing for a few seconds trying to figure out wht the tiony numbers are.

Not to mention the shortcut keys on the unit icons are more or less invisible sometimes. Not only are they tiny, but their colouring often blends into the background of the unit icon too making it impossible to read.
Why the hell was the tooltip telling you the shortcut key when you hovered over a unit icon removed? In DoW 1 you got the description of the unit, like you do in DoW 2, but what you also got was a "shortcut key: x" text in a different colour. This needs to be added to DoW 2.

Ah, good point Colonel Temp, finding how much Zeal you're at is a pain. I always have to look for a few seconds, especially since the icons are lit up based on your tier, not your zeal amount. I'm okay with icons being lit based on tier, but your zeal amount needs to be more visible.

I like the UI I find it very clean and neat it just needs a few tweaks (which im sure the final version will have).

I like it, better than most UI's in RTS games. Less clutter and useless space.
Although, it would be cool if ulitmately you could customise the positioning like Warhammer Online.

i have far more problems with the HP on top of the squads, its just too slim, not striking enough so when i watch my squads do battle, i cannot determine when to retreat. probably its just me =/
