I have a pretty powerful rig, newly built, runs like a dream. I have high-speed cable-based internet and I'm hardlined to the router (no wireless interference). Hence, I believe my internet speed is not a problem. This perception is reinforced by the fact that in the few occasions when I actually get a game, I constantly see the warning messageson the left side of the screen saying that other players are burning through their lag grace period, while I never lag.
With all that being said, it takes 3-5 minutes for GFWL to set me up with a 3v3 game. I'm Rank 1, so I doubt it's because there are too few people my level to play with.
Once I get in a game, I constantly see other players burning through their lag grace timers, so the game is constantly paused. In addition, the other team of 3 often initiates kick votes for my teammates, which means I end up playing with 2 comps against 3 human players.
So, this system is sucking for me. I have to wait too long to get a game going, then the game itself is laggy, and I end up getting screwed because my teammates get kicked.
Should I host all my games? Would that improve things?
EDIT: I just realized I can't choose to host a ranked game. I guess GFWL decides who the best host would be. Not really sure how that works.
