View Full Version : Buid Order

Just realized theres no BO thread in nids stratagy so i thought id start one
Usually i start with this BO regardless of the enemy
-1 Power node
-1 War (With adrenal's)
Then depending on the situation ill spam Horm'z or rush to tier 3
I do the exact same thing :D
I tend to go and use the Ravener Alpha as I find his tunnels VERY useful!
I 1st use RA for Power Node then 1st Horm to a Req Pt.
send 2nd horm and rippers to area for back up.
Best bet is to combine attack the opponents Peons 1st if they are grouped with a Hero.
I find killing the peons 1st then the Hero works best in every situation!

i would add a second set warriors with barbed stranglers for the extra health and supression in T2. I usually go with a HT hero too and add the VC for some more ranged damage and anti vehicle and the health synapse. tier 1 tyranids are pretty weak i dont know why any one would stay any longer than necessary. T2 should be #1 priority.

absolutely. a T1 gaunt squad loses to just about everything except scouts and guardians, and they can lose to them too if the enemy gets the upgrades.

-1-3 Generators, depending on how the match is going
-Warrior, Venom Cannon
-Carnifex, Venom Cannon
That was my beta build, even before the buffs and stuff >.>. Range whore build, I like to call it.

What wargear do you get for the ravener?
Also, what's your TS?

just try'd out ryouichi's BO
Not to bad
Changed it up a bit in T2 and added some horm's (1 squad)
Seems to work really nicely, Terms keep them pinned untill Horm's swarm in and War's rock them around
Used it with tyrant
<--------------- No longer Noob spamming horms, Mixed armys rock

I'd be curious about the wargear as well.
As it stands this is my BO:
--Tunnel to point, cap
Horms spread out, cap
Find and stalk opponents while building warrior squad
3xHorms+Warrior fit in tunnel, engage enemies by tunneling behind defenses/into troops, dump out infantry, begin violation
Tier 2 go for warriors with venom cannons/anti vehicle wargear+damage synapse wargear, pressure enemy points with a mix of 3Horm1War(Gland)+2War(VC)+Hero.
Generally works, except last night when I learned that tunnel traps can instagib warrior squads, and the person who did it to me commenced **** talking me for the remainder of the 3vs1 game. (Allies dropped at start).
I like Tyranid but I feel like Rippers are difficult to micro for any kind of effectiveness, since they do little damage output, while 3 squads of Horms with a Warrior Adrenal and the Damage Synapse actually do EXTREMELY well. I've dropped carnifexes while losing half a squad of horms.
I'm still learning though, so spare me the "Horm spam newb" talk. In beta I didn't use Horms at all, it just didn't feel very "tyranidy".

Im having excellent success with combining horms and terms
They just dont expect it and outfit most squads with flamers, Which are usless when the flamer squads are on there ass due to the knockdown on the VC synaps

I need a favor. I attempted that terma build in a 1vs1 match against a newbie and I won but I felt like I was considerably disadvantaged as opposed to my normal build (with horma's).
Can someone view this replay and give me some constructive feedback? I'd really appreciate it. Thank you in advance.
Edit: And yes, I know retreating my hero was stupid, I realized it as soon as I pressed "x" on my keyboard. It didn't sink in he was surrounded till too late.

Well i think the build didnt work out aswell becouse his build was much targeted at shoota boyz then the normal slugga spam
If it was slugga Spam the added ranged knockback would of gave you a added advantage
All in all i think you just didnt counter him aswell as you could of
A hormy build would of been ownage in that match so it goes to show that sometimes spamming Horm's isnt a nooby thing to do

I guess maybe I should have produced more hermo's after I saw all the shootahs? I don't know. You kind of get committed to your build order before you get a chance to see your opponent.

Its easy to switch around
2 Termies at start then by the time you see his army's focus you can switch it up

I normally go 1 ripper 1 term at start, so it's just as easy to go either way.

My build order of never changing ever (even though it should)
Ravener Alpha (Corrossive, Burrow/Regenerate, Aura)
-Warriors + Glands
Replacing losses as neccessary. I don't like Rippers. Yeah, they are great but I don't like them.
Alternate, ranged build
Hive Tyrant (Venom, Aura, Bio-Plasma)
-Termagants (lose the Hormies sometime)
-Warriors + Venom
-Stompyfex or Raveners.
