I know nothing of modding this game but would it be possible for someone to make a mod to make the imperial gaurdsmen Playable?
Considering we're at basic hex hacking of entity files right now, no.
Maybe when the RBF file format has been tamed..
Besides, there's only really one type of IG unit ingame, and that's stormtroopers. Little more than walking meat for the Nid Grinder, imho. :o

Actually, it has pretty much been tamed. By that I mean that my team and I were sitting here last night studying every specific of the RBF format and thanks to Corsix who helped us fill in the blanks in our knowledge we now properly understand the format.
As such, we are now working on a very simple, basic tool that should in the end allow creating and editing RBFs. Whilst it should be a simple tool, it may still take some time, as it all depends on when I have the time and will to work on it. And I say already as I'm sure there will be someone out there who will ask; asking for release dates will not help as I don't know release dates, and I will give no estimates as I know that I have a tendency to constantly break my personal deadlines.
That said, keep on the lookout. When this tool is indeed out it should be "a breeze" to get this done.

Very good to hear Kresjah :) I think I speak for everyone in this modding community when I say a big thank you to you and Corsix for going to the lengths to develop the tools we need
So if this gets done, it will sort of function like Relic's attribute editor for DOW1?

Kresjah: Awesome news!
DemonPastry: Congratulations, you're the first person that I've gotten to say this to in a forum I'm a moderator on. No mod requests, please. (Though there is somebody who's already working on just what you're asking for (http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=216689), so it's all good. *smiles*)
Going to close this down now... I'm sure everyone will be looking forward to seeing what Kresjah and team come up with, though.
