View Full Version : Question about Eldar

I notice that every time i fight Eldar i get totally pwned. And when i play as Eldar i always totally pwn the enemy. So my question is: Are Eldar over-powered?

Its seems to me that their guardians have super high firepower and their low HP is countered by the "retreat" button and the HQs regen field. They are also far more mobile than regular units.

Shuriken platforms perform far better than HBs.

I keep having this warlock move used on me that insta-kills about 3 squads of gaunts.

Howling banshees seem awefully powerful for their cost to me.

Eldritch storm costs so little psychic mightcompared to roks and bombardment.

My biggest question is how are the Eldar balanced with such a mobile army that has more firepower than other ones?

Hilariously enough the points youve made are completely contadicted and often complained about constantly in this forum and others.

1) The Eldar are currently probably the most underbalanced race when it comes to your average player. They require dedication, persistence and an above average micro game.
2) Howling Banshees suck. When used with an exarch and as a hit and run unit they excel, when used with a farseer they dominate. But as a stand alone unit, unsupported, that cost the same as warriors. They suck.
3) You might be new to the game and playing against opponents that dont "understand" the concept of suppression platforms. Trust me, when you do encounter some better players you will get your ass kicked like the rest of us. But dont worry its all part of the learning curve. Plats are good, but Eldar are about mobility and tactics.

If you run into a tyranid player using the Ravener alpha and die like countless others dont feel bad, Relic hates us each and every one. But if your doing well with the Eldar congrats, their the hardest race to play but probably the most rewarding.

You contantly win with Eldar? What's some of your tactics?

if you're getting owned with banshees your opponent is probably pretty good. banshees are garbage if you suck with them, but insanely effective if you're good with them.

i, myself, am horrible at utilizing banshees.

also, i disagree that shuriplats > hb's. in fact i think they're pretty balanced and both equally easy to take down with the right tactics.

if a warlock's psychic blast is killing 3 of your squads, you need to spread them out. an AVERAGE-skilled eldar player's only chance against tyranid is using his warlock effectively early-game, winning the resource battle and blowing you to bits with d-cannons and fire prisms.

guardian ranged damage is where it should be, and only becomes overwhelming when micro'd properly. flanking units in cover and popping their damage buff for instance.

as you can probably tell.... i'm a noob fighting noobs. So my tactics really wouldn't be a help to you because you're a better player. Anyway i just mass guardians with Warlock. (pretty nooby huh? :P)

Hmm.... i do seem to recall every time i got pwned by Eldar i had crappy team mates. Maybe that is why. I get double teamed by 2 eldar players and than think it was just 1 eldar player.

Team... mates.

You only played Eldar in 3vs3 and you believe that makes them 'overpowered'? Right, there's your problem. Do some 1vs1 ladder as Eldar and come back here with how easy they are.

Agree with Brenil on this, take a go in 1v1 to get a clearer idea of balance. Glad ure doing well in the team game with them tho.
