View Full Version : 1st release: ambush pattern tiger
14th Mar 09, 3:58 PM
new version up now.
i've been learning camo. thought i'd put this up for anybody who wants it. it's me trying to do an ambush camo pattern on a tiger. i'm hoping people do comment on things that could be better so i can try and improve my skills, so criticism is very acceptable. i also included a pic of a king tiger i used somewhat as reference. i wasn't trying to totally copy it or anything. just as an idea of what i wanted to get close to.
anyway, hope you enjoy: http://files.filefront.com/Imous+ambush+camo+tigerrar/;13472030;/fileinfo.html

i used the 101, and cross off Xaliburs early production tiger. (hope he doesn't mind).
You better bring this download down asap. SKinner want people to ask first if they can use their texures or edit their textures. So, before you release anything, first ask permission.
Skin looks very good though. Only, you skinned a Tiger and the reference is a King Tiger;).

yeah, that's how it is most mod sites. understandable, and removed. will post a newer version when i get my own numbers/markings done. i'd like to do those myself anyway.
and i realize it's a king tiger in the reference pic, but it's got one of the better ambush patterns i've been able to find.
new version not using anything from anyone elses skins now up.

The insignias are wrong, you used modern german army insignias instead of the german balkenkreuz of the time.

yeah. i just went with some that i liked. the emblem on the front is actually from the 3rd panzer regiment, which apparently were panthers. and the knight's cross on the side? i just wanted something different. bare in mind that i made this skin for a panzer elite tiger i made. as such, i wanted it to have a more elite look (hence the fancy crosses, and emblem on the front by the hull mg). so yeah, i threw historical accuracy out the window. :p

Very nice work, but I would really appreciate if you'd fix this cross and divisional stuff. Could you also remove this black thing on the screen?
But I still really like because of it's quite uncommon color and pattern.

the black thing is the tow cables that tigers had, not sure if i'll be able to fix that very well.
the divisional markings are easy to fix tho'. i still need to find tiger divisional markings.............

I'm not sure if you are able to remove that.
Because that's the Tiger Ace model, and the early version of it had the towing cables on it, but they were removed later, don't know why Relic did that.

This cable stuff is just painted on the diffuse and should be fixable quite easy I think.

well i have a new one with tiger divisional markings, and the proper german balkenkreuz (off a pic of a german tiger model decal sheet). it will have an updated camo pattern as well that's closer to what i was wanting. i don't really notice the tow cable in-game anyway.
the newest, and final version is up. no more edits will be done. i like it "as is".

Do you know how to actually use the model viewer? Cause on Corsix it didnt let me use the tool...I need to use the Editor on the COH folder?

You have to use the Worldbuilder. Chose the Placement tool and go to sbps/races and then the faction you like.

not so good skin ,but ether not so bad. It needs some dust , rust, dirt etc to be a good one. And the colors are not the used one . Search for more reference instead the models . This one cammo is for early 45 not for Normandy.

Thx for your help now Im figuring out how to mix models or just simply how to replace a model with another. If you know how to replace for example the volksgrenadiers for the panzer elite grenadiers.

It's a good skin, but like Geo said your reference on the model/color is not historical accurate. But if that's not what you're aiming at, other than that, it's a very well done skin.

historical accuracy wasn't foremost on the list. it was more of a "i want this type of look on a tiger" type thing. i'm currently trying to learn "rust, dust, dirt, etc......." like georider suggested. i'm trying to learn zimmerit as well. ;)

I don't like non-historical skins, but I see you have a skinning potential.
