sigh didnt diablo two teach anyone anthing the releas date for a game is constantly changing and eveloving with the game and can be found witht eh complex equation "original realease date + 2 years"

Falcrum

That equation is hardly complex.

The equation:

(Progress)/(Publisher Impatience) = Release Date

thesamonthemoon
13th Dec 03, 12:41 AM
function OnInit()

Original_Projected_release_date = GetAsNumber("Original_Projected_release_date")
local Current_Date = GetAsNumber ("Current_Date")
local Time_To_Projected_Release_date = Projected_release_date - Current_Date
local random_time_interval = rand(6) + 6
-- In months
local How_Much_Work_is_left = GetAsNumber ("Work_to_Do")
local Projected_release_date = GetAsNumber("Projected_release_date")
- Projected_release_date is presumably Current_Date + How_Much_Work_is_left

local Publisher_Impatience = GetPublisherSettingAsNumber("Publisher_Impatience")
-- Publisher Impatience is on a scale of one to ten

local Actual_Release_Date = ((How_Much_Work_is_left) / (Publisher Impatience)) + Time_To_Projected_Release_date
-- How_Much_Work_is_left is measured in months.
if Actual_Release_Date <= Original_Projected_release_date + 6 then
-- I'm not sure if <= is a real symbol
Actual_Release_Date = Actual_Release_Date + random_time_interval
end
endI think that will work. I haven't tested it though. ;)

Hmmm... It seems to give aproximately the right results for Halflife 2 when you do the math (although I understand there was some outside intervention on that one).

there is allready a demo out, a closed one but its a demo :P
become a fileplanet subscriber and you might get a demo of the game

All that fancy release date code is rubbish. It is well known that the actually release date of a title follows a Poisson process with mean 8 months starting from the original projected release date.

the beta isnt a demo, its a test. not for enjoying, for bug quashing. and release dates are directly related to the time it takes to complete the game. scalliwag.

Hopefully DoW's release won't land too close to HL2's. $50 + $50 = SWK is broke

hmm..

Dread, you're posting a reply to a guy who was banned six months ago in a seven month old thread that was started by another guy whose account is also suspended. On top of that, the answers to their questions are posted in the big sticky thread up the top of this forum.

Try to use some sense, people & please don't bump old, useless threads.

/me spanks Dread.

I work at EBGames and our date is set for 9/16. It's been that date for the last three months so I don't forsee it changing.

Sometime after the end of both betas and before the CDs hit the shelves, I would expect :)

Meh, October seems kinda late. When has relic given out demos anyway? Before, same, or after the game is released? Anyway lets not make this to a demo tread...

Hopefully, earliest that I see the game coming out is late September, lets just hope for that.

No bumping old threads with inane replies like "lol" or "i agree". Only add to an old thread if your comments are relevant and would be seen as a viable addition to a thread. Continuing on a conversation dropped months ago is not a viable reason.

Currently, all we know is that the game is slated for release in Autumn 2004 (Fall 2004 for those of you in North America, Q4 2004 in international gibberish).

A demo is on the cards, but we don’t know when.

Please don’t post threads asking about these things as we will have to lock them. They serve no useful purpose and only clutter up the forum.
Owned. :D
