Hello all WH40k fans!

I just wanted to take a bit of time to introduce myself to you. I'm the Assistant Producer on Warhammer 40k RTS, and over the course of the next several months I'll be doing my best to feed you with as much information as I can (without giving away *too* much, obviously...) about the absolutely stunning title that is Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War.

I look forward to interacting with you all on a regular basis. Everyone on the team is super excited about the project, amazingly talented, and can't wait to show you how we're bringing the WH40k setting to life like never before.

See you around the forums!

- Raphael

So you're the one we have to torture for inside info.
Exellent...

Seriously, great to see the devs already on the forums.

I'm looking forward to this game, so I'll just be sitting over here...

It's really great to see the devs on the forum so much. :)

Please feed the information here :here: :muffy: (he's always hungry).

Nice to meet you guys. I assure you, whatever torture you can conceive of won't even match an inkling of a shade of the torture I would receive from this end if I spilled the beans. ;) But, I promise I will share what I can.

I'll be spending as much time here as I can, including just reading what people have posted, to make sure the dev team has visibility into the desires of the community. As you've already seen from some of the others who've posted in here, there is at least as much internal interest in making this a great WH40k game as there is external pressure from the fans to do so. :)

Based on the picture from the other thread of Mr. Abaddon, I'm guessing it's a "ground-side" RTS?

How extensive is this RTS going to be? Ground? Space? Are we expecting to incorporate more then two playable sides this time? Or at least more sides floating around?

Hi, and thanks for taking this project on. With all of the gamers there who seem to be working on it, and your own enthusiasm, many of our hopes are getting up!

Can you please just tell us that there is no resourcing/building units? Please?

Yeah, is this squad-based or army based...can you give us that much at least? And if I have to make peons to harvest gold or adamantium I'm gonna go play the Sims.

Orks can grow themselves and use teef for $$. Yeah...that is pretty weird.

Don't bother trying to torture him. Like Uber, Relic has sealed their employees with Evil Blood Pacts to prevent them from giving away any infomation that Relic doesn't want released.

on topic, ive done this tortue tinhg before with a different dev team on a different game. it like convinceing a dead brid to cook spaggehti-o's.

Hey guys...I can appreciate how hungry you are for information. Being a hardcore gamer myself, I've often been in your position -- wanting to interrogate the developer to find out as much info as possible about a title I can't wait to play! :)

Unfortunately, I'm not authorized to say anything more about the game than what has been announced so far. Thankfully, that situation won't last forever, and I feel very confident you won't be disappointed by what we've come up with for Dawn of War.

Hey man! A developer in the wild? Rare sight!

Nice to see a 40k project, its about time someone did gamesworkshop's creation justice.

Looking forward to seeing how it developes.

I always feel sorry for developers on the forums. No matter how good the game, there will always be whining and complaining from idiots who don't know a good thing if it came up and bit them on the ass.

But underneath all that are the fans. I have faith, and I don't doubt that this'll be an absolute blinder of a game.

Good luck Tacit :)

Hmm... since that's the case, are you authorized to say when you'll be authorized to tell us about the game? If not, are you authorized to say when you'll be authorized to say when you'll be authorized to tell us about the game? :)

Ok, then tell us if there will be public beta testing...even if in very limited numbers.

Curses. And now the waiting game continues...but one post...you'll slip up...and someone, somewhere, will know how to use the copy+paste functions...and then, you shall FAIL!

Well I hope it's good. With real life bills I had to give up painting and playing 40K. However a game done right, esp. with modabillity would be great. At least give the option to choose the colour of space marines and add our own badges?
Maybe the colour of our units in general.
A small function but it means a lot.

How about if we ask a bunch of vague questions, like, will this be a lot, a little, or not very different from your typical RTS? Hoping to dethrone Warcraft or simply blow everybody's socks off with something completely different?

Also, could you maybe put the game in space, and maybe instead of orcs and space marines, just feature spaceships... mm.. oh and maybe call it Homeworld 3?

Oh.. alright.. JK. New game and all that. Looking forward see how things develop. Only played one game of Warhammer back in college but it was a lot of fun. Just never got into wargames as much because wargamers are some of the most priggish stuck up snoots in the gaming community. Although the fantasy sci-fi people are generally much more tolerable than the historical variety.

Historical Sci-Fi ???

guh?

Warhammer 40K is about as close to "Fantasy Sci-Fi" (oxymoron if I ever heard of one) as it gets, I guess.

Anyway, I hope the game goes well.

Well, it's nice to see that a 40k game is in your capable hands.

Now screenshots or it doesn't exist! ;)

Tacit
12th Jan 04, 6:57 PM
So, now that you've seen screenshots (or at least, heard about them), I presume the game's existence is no longer in question? :)

Meh, screenshots can be faked, so can articles and interviews (:
