Second Playthrough,Suggestions?

I want to play the campaign again but I want a different experience than the previous one.I used the FC in melee tarkus in ranged avitus and cyrus on my first playthrough.I think I should try something different this time such as ranged FC but I am not sure if it's doable.What are your suggestions?

I will be playing on sergeant difficulty(normal)

The next thing i will try: Melee tarkus without termie amor is very good + melee FC + ranged avitus + ranged Thule.

I already played with ranged FC, ranged Tarkus, ranged Avitus + Thad (melee)
i put FC, Tarkus and Avitus in Termie armor and it was just attack move across the map, while Thad just captured stuff.

play it on hardest difficulty, makes things a bit more interesting.

and then use all the sqauds in random roles.

ie. ranged commander, cc tarkus. they are all dooable really, and will force you to create new tactics.

beyond that im not sures theres much you can do

Tbh I was annoyed by boss fights in sergeant difficulty where I had to fall back all the time,they were very boring and I dont want to make them even more time consuming and difficult by upping the difficulty.I was thinking about this set up
Melee FC(regular power armor)
Melee Tarkus(is this doable/worthwhile?)(terminator armor later game)
Avitus with heavy bolter
Thaddeus Melee(terminator armor later game)

That's not very different from your first run through.

Try:

Ranged FC
Melee Tarkus
Ranged Thaddeus

For the last choice you're a little stuck since:

Avitus - Melee, just doesn't really work
Cyrus - Anything, he's just too squishy
Thule - Is good in melee and ranged combat, I'd probably take him with me, even if you just put him in "tank" mode so your FC has some cover.

Here's a thought, if I beat the campaign on the hardest difficulty, would I get the achievements for doing it on the lower difficulties as well or would I have to play the campaign on each skill level to get those achievements?

@chip: when you do it at the highest difficulty you also get the achievements for the lowest.

@dams: cc tarkus is actually really effective. especially when fighting swarms of infantry.

cc tarkus is indeed good, but only without termie armor. (in termi armor he loses his melee stance and becomes ranged)

Currently running through Primarch with a Ranged FC with a rocket launcher, Cyrus, Tarkus and Avitus (in their standard builds). The going is much slower than on normal (as expected) but I haven't really run into many problems yet. I will say though that the game is quite fun on the harder difficult levels until you have to defend the generators, ugh....

i know thule w/ AC is good, but i used him as a CC tank and he was AWESOME! he did insane amounts of damage, and when he's in CC he won't be shot by AV weapons.

Other than that, i use:
Melee FC (w/ either halo or jump pack, and TH)

Avitus w/ plasma cannon (term armor w/ AC later)

Pre-thule: thaddeus w/ power fist (term armor later in game)

Otherwise: CC Thule

Ranged Tarkus w/ flamer (vets are incredebly useful, i would get him term armor later in game, and use storm bolter, NOT heavy flamer)

Get the chapter veterans ability for Tarkus and his friends will upgrade to the following melee weapons:

1) Power Fist and Plasma Pistol
2) Power Axe and Plasma Pistol
3) a better Chainsword and a better Bolt Pistol

when I first had melee Tarkus the best weapons I could get for him were a Power Sword and a Bolt Pistol,which meant I acidentally "completed" his set (One of each melee weapon and a 2:2 ratio of Plasma Pistols:Bolt Pistols)

I'm not sure if Chapter Veterans works with terminator armour (can anyone tell me?)

no they don´t work with termie amor, you also have less hp with it (because the skill doesn´t work)
