View Full Version : Tanks are still woefully unresponsive

I've lost count of the number of times I've issued a move-back order to a Falcon or Fire Prism only to have a single squad of Tac marines with a missile launcher kill the thing solo before it gets out of range. These tanks take upwards of 40% of their health from a single anti-vehicle shot. Shouldn't the flip-side of the coin be some fast, RESPONSIVE movement when ordered?

That's not responsiveness, its a mixture of pilot error and a hard counter.

The tanks handle wonderfully, dunno what you're talking about bud.

Maybe its a relative thing? I only recently picked up the game and didn't play multiplayer much at all before the beta and maybe its much better than it used to be, but to me they're just painfully unresponsive. My ping is usually in the 100-200 area, so I'm sure its not that. Does spamming a move order screw up the tank or something? I tend to freak out if those Tac squads are on top of the thing before I see it and spam and move order while shrieking "FOR GOD'S SAKE MOVE YOU STUPID TANK!".
Its just that when I see a Tac marine squad jump out of the fog of war, launching a missile and its there on my screen, visible for me to see (i.e. I see the event as its happening), I select the tank and try to run like hell, but the ****ing thing either sits there like a retard, spins around then runs away (exposing its rear armour to the next incoming missile, which is SUCH a good idea) or backs away ridiculously slowly. I don't get it.

They need some time to reach full speed. Try clicking several times just behind them, so they reverse quite fast.
On another note, you can't dodge a missile or rocket once it was fired at your vehicle. It'll hunt it down and score a hit no matter what.

Try queueing several move orders with the shift key, starting immediately behind your tank, and leading away an inch or two apart, like a trail of breadcrumbs. The tanks only move backwards if you issue the move order a very short distance behind them. This way, the tank will move steadily away from the front, and not stop to do a U-turn, which might be what you're experiencing.
