Just thought some of you guys might be intrested in a MOD for Generals. it's not complete yet but does look pretty good.

Now WOW! This is almost exactly how I DONT want to see Dawn of War.
All too bright, happy and worst of all - BLOCKY with NO color coordination :)

lets be fair.
the thunderbolts are untextured, they will not be purple when they are finished.
the fort needs some walls to stop the instant change, but im fairly certain the generals engine can support texture merging, so im not sure why they arent using it. however, its a very early test, and i see no reason why it cant be fun
generals engine doesnt have the subtleys for 40k combat, theres no COVER for instance.
Well the mod is still in it's early stages.

Oh, needs work allright, but some serious potential here. Let's hope they get it done before DoW comes out, though...

Hello, i am a member of the generals mod you seem to be discussing. I am glad to see people taking an interest. Oh, also the second screenshot was of an early model, you should check out the site and see the rest for yourself, especially the rhino varients, leman russ and vulture gunship.

Hi as Mod Leader i didn't particulary want the mod to be discussed on the Relic boards. I purposely didn't want to cross the line by posting about it myself and i don't think theres a need for the mod to be discussed here.
I know you guys are more agitated than a Khorne beserker at the prospect of Dawn of War and any other 40k computer games pass as a substitute till its comes out but it's probably better that you keep discussion about the mod to our own forums. I'll be more than willing to answer questions about the building or any other models over there.

No don't take it badly, i know you were only doing everyone a favour, it's all good, but this is the Dawn of War forums and i don't want to step on anyones feet.

very promising mod but please do a good job. Also, about the textures, they seem too clean, some ruff edges and dirt would really make it feel like warhammer 40k.
Also, will you be making custom terrain? The cc terrain is too bright and good to be warhammer 40k.
Will you be including titans? Please god say yes.

Also, i just wanted to add that if you need an extra modeller for some projects let me know, i really enjoy buildings, especially large very detailed ones.
I use 3ds max 6 by the way, i also have the newest maya and am able to convert files into any needed format.
Also, i was just wondering, how many polys are the maximum for a detailed building, one that isnt too common.
The following building was done in about 5 min, i dont texture buildings or animate them, although about the animation, i will try to learn later on. The following building is 2230 faces. I would love to help you guys on your project.

btw, this building in game is expected to be huge, so as not to seem like a waste of polys.
Think of it on the scale of a titan forge where they produce titans piece by piece. From your screens i get the feeling that the main "garage" building in the pictures is about as tall as 10+ land raiders stacked up.

blood do you use 3ds max? Just add a skylight and when rendering, goto the advanced lighting tab and pick the top option from the dropdown menu.
