If you have lost your progress in The Last Stand and consequently are reset back to level 1, try the following immediately;
Players' progress is being saved to the GFWL 'cloud'. It's attached to your LIVE account and can be accessed from any location as long as you use the same LIVE profile to play the game.
Unfortunately, it seems that LIVE is not 100% reliable when retrieving the data.
There is a workaround if this ever happens again:
If you access The Last Stand from the Main Menu and notice that your progress has been wiped, DO NOT press the Back button. Instead, press the 'Home' key on your keyboard to bring down the GFWL Guide and sign out of LIVE.
Then sign back in, your progress should be restored.
It's integral that you don't press Back or play a game with a wiped profile. If you do, your progress will be saved at Level 1.
