I was curious as to if you guys had any ideas when the dawn of war site will become full blown(info, pics, faq etc.) instead of just a news announcement.

full blown like that? my best guess E3. with small info and few more screens id say a month or 2. i can bet though that we wont see a trailer until E3.

Ah ok, I kinda suspected as much. A full blown website will just draw more fans, because gamers who dont know what warhammer is can figure it out on the website.

They probably have site content prepared, but are waiting for the nod from THQ (if I recall correctly) to hand the info over and be posted on their site.

Do they even have the initial design finished?

hey, can u clarify? the game or the site? im presuming the game. yes a dev has stated that the game is playable and quite enjoyable. the devs also said that the screens in PCGAMER are dated so dont be quick to judge the graphics and theme of the game eg. dark gothic look or bright starcraft look. i presume we will have a site with some good info in a couple of months or by or after E3.

I mean the website, therefore they dont have to go somewhere else to learn about the game, as a news bulletin about the annocement isnt really a website.

well, relic doesn't seem to have their own booth at E3 this year, but THQ does, I can't remember if they had their own last year or if they were at sierra's.
at any rate, the website will probably go live the same day they release a bunch of screenshots, most likely during E3.
If we ask (beg, plead, perform sacrifices, etc.) someone from relic will confirm DoW will be there and a spy...er...journalist from relicnews can take a camcorder to get some shaky cam shots.

do you know if relic/thq are releasing dawn of war on any other formats or just p.c?

the Relic website says "Popular Tabletop Wargame to Take PC Gamers by Storm in Fall 2004" as part of the press release, if that means anything concrete. I'm guessing PC only with maybe WineX support. HW2 mostly works with WineX for Linux, and I'm pretty sure Relic helped that effort along.

my p.c isn`t the most stable so i was hoping i could get it on my xbox, nevermind, i`ll still get it, obligatory really being a g/w staff member and all.....
i`ve only got fire warrior, final liberation and space hulk, but this looks like the best yet.

YIKES!
Relic aint on that list of exhibitors, but I really hope one of their publishers will be displaying previews of Dawn of War anyhow.

Remember, it's being published by THQ, not Relic. Relics's making it, but it will be a THQ game.

At the E3 last year, HW2 was displayed at the Nvidia booth since sierra did not want to fork over the money for more floor space to show off another game. Typically development companies do not pay for their own booth and rather hope that the publisher will. Floor space is just too expensive.
THQ seems to not have the same problem sierra did however, so i would guess that it will at least have some space to display concept art, screenshots, and/or a trailer of some kind.
In addition since PC Gamer nominated DoW in their list of top ten games of 2004 (valuable real estate i might add). THQ would be foolish to pass on such high praise. Not to mention that one of THQ's flagship titles (Full Spectrum Warrior; also a 'PCG top ten game of 2004 nominee') should be in stores at least on the xbox by the time E3 04 hits, which in turn clears up floor space for another game *hint hint*.

I hope they bring it out on ps2 as well, I don't actually own a pc but I might have to get one if it is only on pc!!!
Honestly...there's the question of how the fuck you'd be able to play this game on a PS2.RTSes tend to require lots of keys, which consoles tend to not have. It'd be extremely awkward in my opinion.

when they did port RTSs to consoles they were complete crap, i very much doubt that it will be coming to any of the console as time has proven that such a thing is stupid and theres not a big fanbase for RTSs on the console systems

Well, most of the consoles have the USB ports in the front now, so it would be possible to hook up a keyboard and mouse, and with the tv instead of monitor it would be less hardware intensive... But yeah, when I played Warcraft 2 for the PS1, the controls were awkard, it did not look as good, and just felt... Wrong. Command and conquer red alert was fun by contrast for PS1. And I heard that Starcraft for N64 was not that good at all.

Just an FYI for those of you interested in a WH40K fansite, as more content, info and data is released, Mednick Online Networks (http://www.mednickonline.com) is planning to develop a site. We have a thumbs-up from some of the Relic staff, have opened a line of communications with the makers of the Warhammer table-top game and are trying to develop a relationship with THQ.
Mednick Online Networks are the proud owners of the biggest and most popular Impossible Creatures site on the internet, Impossible Creatures Planet (http://icp.mednickonline.com) and are looking forward to developing the WH40K site!!
