Every 1-3 days, I see the "welcome our newest member" thing with a diffrent name on it... It has been after the patch release only though...
Do the forum admins/moderators have the total number of registered users?

My amazing reading skills (forum intro page) puts the membership count at 5,755.
The community grew during the stretch between games too. It happens. Not a big deal, really. It grew before the patch release too.

5,755!
Holy crap, I didn't think that many people bother to sign up for these forums. I figured that number was more around 2,000.
Ya this place really has grown, particularly since HW2 was released.
Even the 544 regular posters seems a bit large for me. Well, at least I'm one of them.

Most of the threads posted here reach at least two pages, which as far as I've seen in GD fora elsewheres is pretty rare.
As for community growth, very few of the new folks seem to be regulars here in General Discussion. I suspect most of 'em are people who register to ask questions like "were is the pacth?"

i think its not due to the post-patch but due to the influx of warhammer fans. for the most part at least.

I didn't even get the game until the patch was out ... that might be part of it ... not everyone got the game upon its initial release.
I was broke :-/

i remember the membership jumped back when marweas blew his top, and penny arcade featured and article about it. or maybe it was just the views, either way the server was down for a day or so

I'm pretty sure that was just the views, although we might have gained a few new members out of that. Otherwise, I think Dimension has it right that it's the Warhammer fans, as well as the fact that as far as I can remember, the numbers always grow at a slow-yet-steady rate.

2000 members were deleted as part of last months purge.
The current numbers are correct for members active within the last 3 months.
That's,
5762 Members active in the last 90 days,
2091 Members active per month,
1046 Members active per week,
354 Members active per day.

Agree,me thinks it's the Warhammer fans,which isn't a bad thing in of itself :)

The Warhammer game being developed by Relic is still pretty new to the publicity scene, so I don't think as many WH40K fans are registering as you all think...

I have seen many ppl come and go on these forums. As the stats show, only 1/5 of the membership are regular posters (that includes me w00t!). I'm not sure of the significance of this fact...

The major increases were that and also when Homeworld 2 had gone gold and some site linked to us. People started signing up after that.
We'll probably get even more Warhammer 40K or general GW fans as Dawn of War approches it's due date approaches. Few have gone over to the general community and instead remain camping around Warhammer 40K Discussions.
