I'm a bit anul. No. I'm alot.
When I heard you could import your old crew into CR I strarted a new campagne and started grinding I wanted 3 things:
1. A Primarch Angel of Death Save Game.
2. An all level 20 crew.
3. As much wargear untill I had a nose bleed.
First 2 were easy, 3rd not so easy being as I don't bleed that often but I kept going. Eventually after hours upon hours of grinding defense and optionals the items stopped coming in so I completed the Last Stand again, got my pretty Angel of Death screen and waited for CR to come out.
Now I read that most of your wargear doesn't import accross and you have to find it again, bit of a bummer but at least I'll have a running start. Well I thought the word most would be something on the lines of 75% not 99%
And to top it off xp DOES seem to import across. I've just completed the first trainer in CR with my old crew, checked my items and I've got a handfull of.. well rubish tbh and my FC is lvl 27!!!
Ooops :)

Yeah, it was explained pretty early on that pretty much the only gear that could come with you was what you were wearing during the Battle of Typhon. I was always a bit incredulous at hearing about the number of people that started the campaign over trying to scrap together all the gear they could... haha what exactly were they planning to do with it??? :D

What is the procedure to import the old crew? There's an in-game importer or do you need to mess with the game's files??

It's in game. when you start the CR campaign, it asks if you want to use your DoWII campaigns, and then lets you choose which one you want.

Its been a while since I played, so I cant tell if it imported my old team.
If you start anew, what level do you start at. I have level 18 at the beginning
I couldnt find a way to tell as it wouldnt seem to let me load my old campaign (I guess I completed it) I cant remember what gear i had, but I didnt have a jump pack (I prefer the banner), but I started with that instead and some crappy bolt pistol. Also the mega heavy bolter that never realoads that avitus had has gone (I guess it was over powered)

If it didn't ask you if you wanted to import your old crew when you started the new campaign you didn't :) I've redone my Last Stand again and like Aquila says a couple of posts up, you get what you were wearing when you completed that.
The reason my stuff was so crap was I started wearing rubish gear to test my skills while I was grinding for all the wargear and it looked like I must of left it on in the Last Stand. But I requiped some nice stuff, (including the heavy bolter you mentioned) redid the mission and on my new import I have the good stuff (Still bloody lvl 27 though :P)
PS The jump pack confused me at first as well. I never used them on my FC, then I realised the game tells you to jump over that fence at the start of the mission and you can't do that with a Banner so it's forced onto your FC.

What you have equipped is what gets transferred.
I highly suggest you redo the last mission of the vanilla campaign to make sure you have what you want. I especially recommend the seals, vanilla damage reduction and +% damage seals are still very useful in Chaos Rising.
Also, keep the Neverending Hail of Devastation. This gun is so absurdly good, I am 8 missions into CR and STILL haven't found a replacement heavy bolter for it. Lastly, pay attention to the squad equipment screen after the first mission. You can respec your builds there, and only there.

I don't get it either, but you don't actually need it. Force Commander's charge breaks through that fence and saves you a detpack.
Banner is thankfully no longer a must in Chaos Rising on Primarch. Enemy damage is toned down to reasonable levels, and banner heal seems greatly nerfed. Honestly, I am wishing I carried over a good jetpack now for my melee FC. My ranged FC is *totally* using the helmet instead.

I have completed the first campaign, but dont have the option to import... I had to reinstall windows since. I may have lost some settings, but I believe my save game is stored safely. Not sure why it didnt pick it up, as I dont ever recall being given a choice of where to save originally. Perhaps my "My documents" is in a different place.
Its a pain because you cant check to see what you finished the game wearing, only what you had at the end of the previous mission. I think I had dreadnaught armour on my tactical marines, and I couldnt use the lvl 20 sniper rifle as my scouts were only 18. May have to go back and replay, unless there is a good scout weapon available early

A completed save game has _(1) added to the title, so do a search on your comp for YourFCName_(1).sav hopefully its hidden away somewhere :)
Otherwise just do the Last Stand again and that'll create a new one.

i GOT IT, cheers bud...
Although if I couldnt find it, I would not be able to play the last level again until I had played the rest of the game again :)

really strange, I lost many old gears which I was wearing during Last Stand after imported to CR, and some useless old gears which I was not wearing remains.
Wonder what is the rule of importing old gears?

Dunno, I found the equipment of rthe first mission was not what I was wearing. I am almost certain I had the uber Heavy Bolter of Death thingy equiped, but it was available for mission 2.

You're given a generic heavy bolter of suck-ass. You're also given a generic jump pack, I believe, along with a generic sniper rifle. Armour seems to be chosen randomly, though I think a few squads have generic armour too.

Oh, I didn't realize only whatever gear you had equipped for the Last Stand was what was transferred. Avitus and Tarkus both had terminator armor so they couldn't use the stuff they transferred until much later... kinda annoying. Terminator armor is still a mixed bag so I don't see why they limited its use to later in the campaign.
Konfeta, what does rally even do anymore? A damage buff or something? I also regret throwing away countless teleporters, halos, and jump packs.

Raly is basically a small heal. Nothing as insane as it was before. It will get your guys to full, but it won't do it 5 times over like it did in vanilla.
