Ya, Alpha Centauri is pretty cool, but I just tend to not create my own faction thingies and stick w/ university of the planet 'cuz I think the same way that dude does. I believe that free flow of knowledge is one of the most important rights.

I usually play as Morgan Industries, their economy bonus is more then enough to fund my research and military. Plus, in this universe, the Corporation is King.

I'd like to see that "Corporation is King" part after I, as the University, beat you in the tech race for airplanes. I wonder what all of your economists would be doing in their little stock markets when the bombs started falling.

The University is the way to go, because they can get airplanes fastest. The first with airplanes is the first to win the game. It's often as simple as that.

Yeah AC is an amazing game. In fact if push comes to shove I would say that it beats Civ 3 easily.

Anyway my favorite faction is (waiting to be pelted with rotten veg) Lal and his infinitly wise peacekeepers..... I think they aRE easily the best faction. He was the only faction that I could clean up on in Transend (I think that is the highest level).

Although I have never pbem :( and I know that a lot of human players favour Morgan and good old Provost and I just think that yellow and white are gay colours.............. ;) .

As for the custom faction I too never really messed around with them too much, however I think that I will pick up Alien crossfire in a bargin bin and lose about 3 weeks of sleep and walkn around like a zombie in work. Yeah Acolyte thanks for reminding me about AC....... NOT;)

I could never get into the civ series. I tried the AC demo, and I loved the diplomacy and stuff, but I just found it a bit too stat-micromanage-heavy and with wonky combat.

Still, I really enjoyed being the University (only other faction I liked playing was Nautilus) and making Blood Pact with Corazon, Morgan, and Diedre by giving em lots of ECs. Then we declared war on (and annhiliated) that preachy puke Sister Miriam and razed New Jerusalem to the ground.

U.P! U.P! Tech! Tech! Tech!

Ah, Sister Miriam, I used to delcare war on her for fun, then I'd build the Hunter-Seeker Algorithm and laugh at her.

Thaum, I hate to break it to you, but even though White and Yellow aren't the best colours in the game, Purple (the colour of the Peacekeepers) is actually the colour for gay pride ;)

And I'd like to see those airplanes fly into my SAM* equiped garisson and watch them drop bombs, but we all know the fun begins when you Planet Busters.

planet busters r ok i guess, but the *real* fun is when u get like 30 boreholes and start drowning continents and spread fangus all over the map :-)

Vulcanos r cool too btw - pity you cant really trigger them (or at least i dunno how to do it)

Hive EVERY time!

Immune to effic penaltys, then push 2-3 formers and 2 defenders per city...

i used to be into that game, then i got into the mapping for it and would comletely max out a whole island with craters and minerals and all that sorta stuff layered on top on each other so that my city would be very well off from the beginning, the biggest problem i had with the game is that only one unit fought at a time... that in and of itself completely ruined it for me...
