So sometimes rumors arrive from totally vetted cross-referenced sources. And sometimes a giant flaming pile of Necron scuttlebutt falls out of the clear blue sky (with extra inter-office politics thrown in for good measure). You've got to read this: via the virgin poster: Necrons2011 ...Necrons have completed the initial concept phase of their line expansion. Release schedule is currently for January 2011. This conceptual phase has been stop-start for some time – it is a product range that has massive potential, and Games Workshop have been very uncertain of the most lucrative theme by which to capitalise on its fanbase. The development is considered a high-risk investment – a commitment problem that the team is well aware of, and is exacerbated by there being multiple such high-risk line expansions currently being pursued.
3 multi-part plastic kits have been finalised as:
- Immortals
- Spyders
- The Necromancer

Immortals are on a large (35mm) base; they are redesigned as larger, bulkier and more dynamic.

Spyders have 3 different builds

The Necromancer is the central sell of the line expansion and has been the focus of much of the early design process. It has been through several incarnations (and names), but is essentially of the same principle as the Bone Giant for the Warhammer Fantasy range. It has a mechanised skeletal torso housing a suspended crystal, and will likely have a choice between two horrific weapons.
That is all the information I can disclose. I will not post any more.
I would like to add that development staff are getting very frustrated by headquarters’ increasingly tyrannical policies – within and between departments
– with regards to information restriction. It’s absurd, and unnecessary.

any reactions from you guys?

Well they had to redo necrons sometime I guess.

Personally, I'm not excited. A metal robot with a green laser gun is a metal robot with a laser gun. Boring.

I hope they give players much more choice with concerns to army lists - having only one viable troops choice is a bit lame I believe. If they really broaden the choices to the player, like in the "new" IG codex, then it will be sweet.

Saw this on BOLS via Twitter already, but wanted to comment.

I'm stoked at the thought of plastic Immortals. One of the main reasons I don't have 20 of these bad boys is because they are metal, expensive and fiddly to assemble. Still, I have high hopes about what's coming down the pipe pre-2011. Too much so to concern with these excessively at the moment. Still, this is going to make me head home and read through my Tomb Kings to recap what the Bone Giant is all about.

I'm instantly wary of the comment of "35mm base" - it's very rare that GW will introduce a new base size, especially if it's so close to the existing 40mm one. Its just not viable to do so. Which makes me wary of the rest of the content...

BA, Im thinking that the Bone Giant reference is just that it will be a large, skeletal looking construct held together by some infernal power source.

Reminds me of the harvester from Terminator Salvation, Im guessing thats where they took the idea from? Still, its just a long history of borrowing from the Termie films withthe necs, right?

Im guessing that theyre maybe going for the marching legions of metal warriors look?

Im guessing maybe theyll play like vampire counts/tomb kings...IN SPAAAACE! Guessing we'll also see some brutal anti psyker stuff, too!

I think that its just a typo and they meant 40mm base.

Personally, I'm not excited. A metal robot with a green laser gun is a metal robot with a laser gun. Boring. This is how it is in the current dex which does suck. A lot of us are hoping that they add a whole bunch of new units like they have in some of the latest codices. That way there may be some new robots with red laser guns. :) Well, hopefully more diverse than that.

Red? RED!? That's heresy!

Sounds good so far, i've been dying for new necrons to paint and assemble.

Please god don't start taking this tripe as gospel.

Didn't the BA hoax teach anyone anything?

Next day edit: Warseer has moved the Necrons are coming! thread out of rumors.
