Hi
Is there no PC version of this ? i've played Dawn of War 2 to death and then I noticed that Relic was making an other Warhammer game but all the sites list it as not coming to PC
Can anyone comfirm this ?
Will I be able to play the game or not ?

no there probably isn't going to be a pc port for this game its been debated and petitioned to death but it probably is only going to be for 360 and ps3.

So far no, but nothing should stop it from coming to the PC, more and more games are coming to the PC this days including several that would fall under the same category as this one.

The game was set from the start to be a console exclusive.
It's not impossible for it to come to the pc, but don't expect it to (and then, get angry that it doesn't).
As relic have stated, this is designed ground up to be a console game, in the same way that the Dawn of War games are designed to be computer games.
But, yes, it's not an impossibility.

My hope is that it is ported eventually but I have absolutely no expectation for a PC version to be out at any point remotely close to the console launch date(s).
Maybe 8-14 months after the console version. If there's no word on a port after a year and a half, I wouldn't expect one.

Got to wonder why they never intended on a PC version... did they really think PC users wouldn't want it, or that PC sales would be so high that they would lower console sales too much?

Actually, I think it just boils down to them building a console game, or rather a game most suited for console play, and so initially just developing it for those platforms.
Nothing really sinister or overly complex about it.

Name a good W40k game on the console as well. It's an untapped gold mine in my opinion.

Just because it's aimed at consoles doesn't mean that it shouldn't be in the PC, look at Devil May Cry 3 and 4, both are on consoles and the PC and DMC 4 is actually better on the PC, more and more games of this kind are coming to the PC including Metal Gear Solid Rising and The Force Unleashed 2(This time from the start, so hopefully Aspyr or whatever the name of that horrible company is will not have it's hand on the porting process).
So if you ask me, it's a dumb move to NOT sell it on the PC when more and more games are moving to the PC instead of away from the PC, it's like Relic is going backwards.

remember that when they said "no pc version" space marine was still supposed to be a hack n slash / action RPG that plays best with gamepad (i think suits never get the idea that many PC gamers actually have gamepads and can play from couch too ... ). and even then there d have been hope considering darksiders (also from THQ) is getting a PC port too.
now it looks like they changed their design goals to generic "action shooter" anyway , so theres pretty much no reason to not port it.

Did you not read the rest of my post or something? Or are you one of those people who keep saying that PC gaming is dying? Infact, i'll just let EA do the talking:

True, @Shuma.
And another one of the largest game de, Activision Blizzard recently said that over 70% of their profits comes from non-console (ie computer games).

On Space Marine, it would be strange if the game weren't released for PC within a year of its initial console release, since that is more or less standard for those console "exclusive" titles, where the devs have more or less been bribed to keep it from other platforms within the first year.

PC Gaming is growing, yes, and it's being bolstered by digital distribution (all those damned super specials on Steam being the main culprits, I bet :P), but the console market is still the larger piece of pie at the moment, and will likely remain so for a notable period, assuming the PC does overtake it.
As I said, it's most likely just down to them targeting the platforms they initially wanted to build for, and putting blinders on so that they can focus on the work at hand. Once they have fleshed out the product for the consoles, THEN they can veer the project around to make it for PC, if they decide it is viable.
Money aside, there are other issues with the PC base. Piracy is an obvious one, but developers often find the PC consumer base "problematic" - both of which lead to the reason we saw no PC port of Gears of War 2.
Judging by the dev's attitude, I really don't think a PC port is that unlikely, but I would wager for it being released a while after the console version.
Oh, and of course Actibliz's profits come mostly from PC, their biggest money makers are based on the PC xD

Actually: http://digitaldaily.allthingsd.com/20100514/videogame-sales-crater/
And the focus on console was always more about hardware sales for Sony and MS then anything else (the PS3 wasn't pirated and yet the pirated Xbox was way ahead).
If hardware sales go down (from saturation or whatever), we'll see more devs coming back to the PC.

It's pretty cool that they are trying to capture some of the console market, but the massive ammount of loyal Wh40k/relic people out there will certainly make the PC launch of the game worth the effort :)

A Pc version of this would be beyond awesome, imagine what we could do if it supports modding. Oh god yes. And even if it doesn't with the community we have here we would probably dismember the game in and out to enable some bit of modding.
kraken

It wouldn't support modding, Relic was not into that with the previous two games, there is no reason to believe they would be here either.

Uh no, the Essense engine doesn't support modding well, doesn't mean it's not moddable. Not to mention they just announced they're going to give something to modders with next patch, besides, haven't you visited our modding forums? There's probably hundreds of mods for DoW II right here.
Besides, even if it doesn't support modding it can be modded as long as it's on the PC. Look at Mass Effect 2 or Devil May Cry 3 and 4 on the PC for example.
Actually the Essence engine (Essence2? It's a modified form of Essence they use for DoW II at any rate) is surprisingly good for modding. The code itself, in-house, is parsed as XML (I think) which is an incredibly flexible user-defined language. Even looking at the converted code Corsix was able to figure out from the RBF files, the code allows you to do a helluva lot.
And don't get me started on the model format. Absolutely amazing.
The problem we face, as modders, is getting Relic to expose the code and import/export features to us so we can use them whilst at the same time keeping their proprietary software untouched and of course protecting their engine code. That's the problem DoW II currently faces, and I think that's some of what the problem surrounding CoH modding was.
DoW 1 was magnificently easy to mod, for the record.

i have a PS3 so my world wont break down if it remains console exlusive but i d definitly prefer playing it on full HD and with the option for mods (hopefully).
dont really get the "better fits console controls" excuse - i know plenty of gamers these days who have their PCs hooked up to their big 42+ inch TVs and play infront of that as if it were an xbox or playstation. and even if they still traditionally game on monitors .... almost everyone also has a gamepad for his PC - at least everyone interested in games that play better on gamepads ...
since we are awaiting our 2nd kid now i had to give up my "pc room" and migrated to the living room and i m really happy i gave it a chance after i had some reservations regarding controls. Nowadays i always laugh when there are PC vs. Console arguements boiling down to FPS played with mouse OR controller .... you know what ? i m using BOTH. Dualshock 3 for movement in left hand and 7 button mouse in right hand for aiming. works like a charm, best of both worlds.
okay that was kinda offtopic but anyhow, i hope THQ/Relic go for a pc version as well, but considering THQ is also porting Darksiders i remain optimistic and will buy the PC version of Darksiders even if i own the PS3 one a) because darksiders is awesome and b) darksiders PC ports being succesfull hopefully inspires THQ to also port space marine.

Why would you not release it for pc? Many pc gamers download through steam or something, which eliminates the cost of shipping/packaging/producing dvd's. Why not release a pc port? It's money in your pocket.

why would you want two awesome games like these on the pc your computer would explode and you can't really have split screen on the pc

I would imagine there will be a delayed port for PC, much like other big console franchises (Resident Evil / GTA to name a couple).
After 9 months, the vast majority of console gamers who are going to buy it will already have it. So releasing a PC version after this period has elapsed will attract lots of new buyers.
Reason for console exclusivity initially is that they want a big splash in a new market, and they can charge a higher mark up (generally) for console games.

"your computer would explode" im sorry what? not all of us have some cheap dell pc..(not saying that u do either) i highly doubt my PC will have problems with this game..
also split screen isnt even that fun id much rather have a bit of lagg then half a screen to see, also Co-oP or simple multiplayer will work just fine..
Chompster . . . I think he was joking :p

but anyhoo. i hope some of the devs have played GTAIV on PC and have noticed how utterly SH*T it is.. graphics wise..
and dont make the same mistake R* made by porting from consoles to PC. so we pc gamers dont get some halfassed crappy shadows blurry no anti-aliasing looking game..
