I heard a rumour about this in IRC. Is it true?

Langy

I see you forgot the most important thing about IRC. Never trust anyone on it. Ever.

So, basically, my guess is no.

Look if you really want to see the inside of Relic just buy a couple of Pizzas. Go to the main door around lunch time and tell the guy at the desk that Jennifer and Josh ordered Pizzas. Once past the goons have a walk about snooping on folks desks.

And, of course, find everything you possibly can about HW2 for us. Report back with your findings.

Actually, seeing as how the Relic studio is in a converted waerhouse in the historic district, you should try releasing some sort of knockout gas (one that doesn't cause brain hemeraging) into the ventelation system, then walk in and take lots of pictures and copy everything you can.

Hehe... I can almost see a covert infiltration mission happening as we speak in the Relic offices. Now that would make a good game. :D

Who's to say if you wanted to tour Relic you couldn't by just turning up at the door and asking? Granted you're unlikely to find out about HW2 or IC but it's as close as you'll get and you never know, you might do.
I once got a look round Rebellion, a UK developer, by doing pretty much that, and I once got taken round Ideal World, the place where they made Bits, the funky UK games review programme now sadly deceased, and met some of the people on it. Although that was different.

These places aren't fortresses you know, theyre just businesses. Get a group, some cameras, phone up and ask. Worth a try.

Relic's site says that they do not give public tours, and from what I've seen, they're not going to change this policy just because you say "please."

Your box is still waiting for you, dmille.;)

I'm going to go grab my knockout gas right away just tell me where their front door is [ooops okay I just found it] Now uh how exactly do you get the top of the knockout gas off without [accidentally opens up the lid green gas floats out and I quickly pass out.] Well there ends my attempt to break into the Relic fortress infact Im inside right now PLEASE WARN SOMEONE PLEASE!!!!

Seriously though I have a feeling the reason they are not giving public tours is because they have so much stuff out in the open and they dont want you just showing up and snapping pictures of the HW2 game design.

many a true word spoken in jest.
indeed, only last week UberJumper paid me $100 for my covert photos of YOUR very own pantless-working.

beware.

jayhawk, now you are just making it worse for yourself. Now we have two reasons to gain surreptitious access to Relic.

AlexG once told of the ninja operatives that would drag him away screaming should any HW2 information be released. Now, they live again!

*cough* it's in an IRC log somewhere *cough*

Let them be like that then, cheapskates. Arrive en masse and storm the place with cattleprods (to stun but not damage the delicate livestock).

Jayhawk works at Relic thou Tronno... so unless she's a deep undercover operative...

OMG Jayhawk's one of the Ninjas!

Public Tours?

Who sayz anything about PUBLIC tours Dmille?

6th Mar 02, 5:34 PM
Maybe if you showed up at the front door with 6 large pizzas and several cases of beer you might get to see our rooftop patio :)

Actually, we're pretty strict on visitors. During early and mid development, team members aren't even allowed to bring friends in to the office and give tours. We may not be a fortress, but the business depends entirely upon the ideas of the games we're developing and the talented people employed at Relic, so you can see why we keep things pretty secret.

Frank's snake didn't get nervous though... not even in a room full of people watching it eat a frozen rat.

i've got a plan, it involves---

Is it okay if we just brought 6 large bottles of hard liquer and some some beer instead of the pizza?

Relic's office building would be probably be only lit by black lites and the uniform for thier employees is glo in the dark blue, green, or orange. And several fog machines, and lava lamps throughout.

I'm not sure if that image is supposed to be funny or scary.

...although I generally regard phosphorescent cubicle zombies as scary. :wtf:

Relicbow 6: Break-in.

You command an elite team of fourm-goers, to break into relic, armed with the most state-of-the-art weapons and equipped with the most state-of-the-art gear, you have to stratigically plan a raid on the Relic offices, and nutrilize the highly-elite security force that gaurds relice around the clock. Once you have successfully rendered everyone in Relic unconsious, you will soon realise you forgot about the security cameras, and have to fight your way through the Vancouver Police ERT (Emergency Responce Team; Canadian equivalent of a SWAT team), who wets their pants at the thought of a riot, just like the Mayor of Vancouver.

You could save your coworkers a conspiratorial and efficient death by handing them HW2 at the door.

Or if that's not possible, a HW2 box packed with C4, and then run. Have it explode before they open it and find out, so they remain in a state of euphoria when they pass.

UOTGLMTR!
(Uncontrollably on the Ground Laughing Myself to Relic)

I would so have to buy that game!

I suspect they have laptops in their toilets with HW2 on them...hmm...
Hehe, when they really need to get it out, just blow up a ms and the visual force feedback would jolt the gluteus maximus muscles, allowing the waste matter to be passed along smoothly... yep... :D

Clint
11th Mar 02, 9:09 PM
Honestly, would any of you wish any harm on a great collection of people?

Relic has some absolute amazing minds working for them...simply amazing!

and here we're talking C4!

:ninja:

i prefer stealth anyway!!

I have a week off pretty soon, so if that box is still around (if you don't know, don't ask), you guys could send me up there. I'll just stand outside and knock for a week :)

We could just tap into thier security cameras and uplink it to a web feed. That way we can always see what they are working on.

let he who is without sin... (no more derailments plz)

I see another HL mod brewing. Relic board terrorists vs Relic counter-terrorists. I think it would start getting a little dull with only one map and one objective (relic building & HW2). perhaps there could be some extensions of the idea, like planting dynamite in the sierra building or rescuing hostage dmille from his box on the roof?

I'll bring food packets

Maverick_3058

We can always go for a new "Hunted" style map involving either a Sierra executive(ono unbalanced teams and ff!), or the transportation of the HW2 gold CD.

Why don't we all just give them a nice $50 Canadian each and ask for a tour?

Thread locked.

I am claiming my right per 'Book of Moderation', Chapter 5 (Locking Threads), page 147, paragraph 3... that clearly states that at any time a mod may lock a thread without giving a reason to those of the 'member' status.
