Noob question: upkeep

Hi, noob question here :)

Is the upkeep in terms of req in multiplayer on a per squad or per model basis?

I.e. if you've got a squad of heretics with just one member, do you pay full upkeep or only 1/8th?

The motivation behind the question: if I have such a squad in T3, sometimes it would be best to kill it off, freeing pop and upkeep, especially if I'm paying in full for it.

It's on a per model basis so yeah you'd have less upkeep with only 1 heretic but 1 heretic isn't going to be able to do anything, if you send it to cap somewhere and the enemy comes then you've just lost a squad.
