Question for the Devs -- if you are able to comment on this.

Are you using a lot of the DX9 shaders and shadow capabilities? This will be important for a lot of people now, especially since the first batch of DX9 games are out.

The reason I am asking is due to the huge drain on the graphics card that those shaders/shadows have, and if so then there will have to be upgrades to ensure our games are able to look as beautiful as the screenies out there.

The two games that have suffered from this the most are Deus Ex 2 and PC Halo. There are work arounds for Halo (and a new shader patch they are working on) and in Deus Ex2 it mainly involves disabling shadows and the like.

Now I know that HW2 was DX9, and had a GREAT use of shadows, but it wasn't a huge hog on the resources like the previously mentioned games. So, in essence I'm hoping you do the same thing for DoW -- have the game look great, but not throw in every single effect out there just to have it there thus making it near unplayable by many.

HW2 is OpenGL.

IC was DirectX IIRC.

DoW is based off the IC Engine.

Not sure if they've switched over to OpenGL or not.
