Ive heard the game will have Heroes, I dont mind this infact its quite cool. BUT, will they be in the vain of Warcraft III where you have to level them up before they are any good? Or are they instantly great characters. I mean, Heroes when you think about it are already above the rest of the troops. I dont like Warcraft III at all and the Heroes make me hate it more. Thanks for any answeres.

I like warcraft 3 i think its a GG, any way with the heroes, i think it might be more like in every squad there is a veteran that has extra hp,dmg etc.. and has a few skills but thats just my 2cents.

Thats exactly what I want, I dont want the RPG element tacked on, Its a little tedious in my eyes. I hope the heroes are exactly like what you said, Extra HP and much Stronger. I dont mind badges in like HW2, I just hope they stray far away from WCIII's hero system. Its just not worth the trouble, to me.

Q. Will there be Heroes?

A. "We have units in the game called 'Commanders' that are like heroes. They're unique, really powerful, and enhance troops around them in various ways." -- Jay Wilson

This says nothing about an RPG element, so hopefully they arent going the way WCIII did. Thank god :)

The warcraft3 hero system wouldnt fit into 40k so yea no go,

but with hereos maby it can be like this before every battle:

Chaos Lord:
Can select any thing from the Chaos Armoury
Can have any Mark of Chaos
Can be giving a few demonic gifts
Can be Independant or with a Retinue of Chosen

I think it would be really good for customizing heroes and on online play maby there can be a section to give your armys colours, badges and fully customize a chapter leader that would be awsome! :)

i agree and disagree. i agree with the points made that warcraft 3's rpg element is a tedious one, however this system keeps invovled in the game, as a dull moment can prevent you from achieving victory.
i also agree with the point made of how this rpg system would not work in a warhammer 40k envoronment as nothing about warhammer is at all rpg like.
i just hope there is something a player can do while he or she is building thier base.

"Your chaos Lord has advanced to level 6"

*selects daemon prince skill*

*lord turns into really really big guy*

"KAKAKA GG"

Yea thats would just be perfect, just give your commander a few ''buffs'' but it has alrdy been said that it wont be an RPG system :(

i didnt mean that your commander gets better

If there is a pre-configure phase to DoW.. it would be great to fit the commander with some battlegear depending on the upcoming battle. One of the cool things with WH40k is that you decide the army before the engagement. Lots of extra tactics there since you have to try to anticipate what the opponent is going to use.

From the sounds of it you will be able to pick what weapons squads have like i heavy troops and special weapons troops per a tactical squad.

So hopefully Relic will allow you todo the same to you commander.

I seen a screen shot in UK PC gamer of a Captain Holding a Thunder Hammer and you can only chose that option from the wargear list for HQs' if i remember correctly + hes not in termy armor either.

Also it sound like units like the dreads have different attacks from i read in UK PC gamer, one attack it that he bashes a foe away from him and another is whne he picks up a ork in his powerfist and squeezes tight.

So all in all is sounding like a damn good game.

yeah, id like heroes that dont "level up" and that can be customized. i also wouldnt like it if a enemy hero could take on 4 lascannon shots and live.

Psykers- how do they work? I have posted this elsewhere, but no answer has come. Is there risk? Do they work destructively? Or passively? How cool do the powers look? But most relevantly to this thread, can heroes be psykers too, as in, can my marine commander also be a psyker?

Q. What is the benefit of using these commanders versus psykers?

A. "Better in combat, and have abilities that warrant their usage over psykers. Psykers tend to have strong attack abilities, commanders have strong abilities that enhance the troops around them, inspiring them to fight more fiercely and such." -- Jay Wilson

does this answer a part of your question??

It would be cool if insted of makeing them super tough (they will :P ) they would make them just luckily dodge out of the way or have another guy jump in front. :fencing: :hide: :bump:
