Is dawn of war going to be mod friendly (:coffee:)
I was going to ask this question a little while back but didn't get round to it. I and i am sure 100% of us will hope it is as MODs are what keep games alive :) I would like to see 3rd party races and new skins/modles like the Mk4 Dreadnought

How well do people mod relic games?

I asked the question 'are you using Maya3' and a dev said they werent even using Maya at all.
This leaves either SoftImage or Studio Max (or a freeware prog like Lightwave but even Relic arent that cheap).

And that MK4 dreadnought looks horrible IMO.
Not as bad as the very first models (which were terrible) but pale in comparison with the second generation of the dread models.
Im sitting looking at one of those right now. I love that model.

I'm pretty sure they're using 3dsMax

I DEFINATELY hope this is moddable. If it's going to be as mod-friendly as the IC engine is it would be perfect. I've been working on a Gundam mod for War3 for over a year now (Almost two, urk!) and I'm sure if modding is simple enough, I'm sure I can probably usher everything over to a new engine, maybe even be able to push polycounts higher with LOD and add custom decals... Now excuse me, I need to go take a cold shower.
blood_angel, since when is Lightwave free?

Mk4 doesn't have that leviathan feel: the knifey-claw detracts from the "massive behemoth" connotation. The lack of dual weaponry for the right arm as well...but maybe it's a pre-production model?

no, you can already order those from forgeworld. unless I missed something.

Anyone ever read the Martian Tales by Edgar Rice Burroughs? This sure seems like a very fitting MOD for DoW. I hope the RDN toolkit for this one supports gMax.

Yeah it's from forgeworld, it's an Deamonhunters Dreadnought, so has slightly diffrent weapons, a Pyscannon and power blade.

If it is mod friendly, my space hulk mod will be under construction as soon as I finish the single player game. :^)

Aren't Daemonhunters and Grey Knights a completely different faction? Or would they be classified under Space Marines as well? It just seems GW listed them seperately on their own.
And on the topic of hunters, are the sisters of battle now a part of the greater whole that are the Witch Hunters?

GW lists them seperately because they have a completely separate codex, which doesn't require Codex Space Marines. However, the Grey Knights are, albeit a very strange one, a Space Marine chapter.

The GK are the Order Militant of the Daemon Hunters. And while they are technicaly still SMurfs to call them mere Space Marines would be like calling a 120mm tank gun a rifle.
