IGN has a quick blurb on a confirmed Summer 2011 release date.
http://ps3.ign.com/articles/113/1138684p1.html
I had only heard 2011 so summer is better than fall.
Interesting, I am assuming this is Summer for Canada/America. Summer for NZ is Christmas :D

Of course as the saying goes "it will release when it releases (and/or it is finished)" but it is still fun to speculate. Summer could be June to August. Maybe the PR/Hype machine will really kick up around Jan/Feb?
Does the picture imply the helmet will be removeable? Hmmmm....Either way I think the current version of Titus is pretty cool looking.

Yep, IGN confirm it as around about August release. Which is fantastic if your name is Bowkers...:D
Also IGN rate Space Marine as hot property for next year amongst other games, which you can see here (http://uk.pc.ign.com/articles/114/1140196p1.html).

Saw Croax playing "Space marine" a few days ago, was terribly disappointed to find out it was only the trailer. Allowing myself the hope of getting it for a few seconds makes Summer feel so far.
Will be worth it though, the Doltmarines on multi will be unstoppable ;)

I saw this today.http://twitter.com/DannyBilson/statuses/15931855115132928
It is a tweet from Danny Bilson (Exec VP at THQ) which says "Space Marine fully playable with 8 months to go. That is some serious polish time."
8 months puts it at an August release. And, serious polish is always a good thing. Expectations rising.......

They would choose the LAST month of summer to release it. That dvd better be filled to the brim.

Nah, we'd have seen much more publicity if that were true. Read Blueliner's post above yours. He posted this quote from one of the Relic employees:
Space Marine fully playable with 8 months to go. That is some serious polish time.
August 2011 is a somewhat more realistic release date. Not sure what the Gamestop guy was on about.

ya they had a magazine with up coming games and SM was in it with still the same release date but the more i think about it seems like a bullshit date that could be pushed forwards or backwards at any time that being said i hope it comes out in august then it would be even better

I was thinking a summer release would be closer to May/June.

Ideally yeah, Spezz! But then, a couple of extra months won't hurt... a lot.
If it was up to me the game would come out in 2012, polish it the most you can, and let me play as a Chaplain.

And with Terminator armor. I have been waiting for 10yrs to play a game were I can play as a Chaplain wearing TDA.
Ten years.
I can wait another year if it will get my character into TDA.

Good job its not up to you. I want this game ASAP. Its already got 8 months polishing time, thats more than most games!

Yeah but this is Relic, they make RTS games that's what they do, they make awesome RTS games, this is new to them and not to mention that all that polishing time didn't do much for DoW 2. So forgive me if i'm a bit concerned when Relic is making a game like this for the first time and only gives it 8 months of polishing time.

Yeah because they're going to force their employees who have only made RTS games to make a 3rd person action adventure game. How many times do we have to mention they've brought in talent from multiple studios that have made excellent 3rd person action adventures...
Also 'only' 8 months? Even if they hadn't got a decent crew on this that's a lot of polishing time.

Do we know who? From what studious? From what excellent 3rd person action adventures games? Because just saying it doesn't mean anything, as an example ninja theory is supposedly an "excellent" 3rd person action adventure studio, but... It isn't.
And polishing time is just that, polishing, that would imply that the game itself is pretty much done, for example Dawn of War 2 should've(looking at the approximate dates between the release of Dark Crusade and release of Dow 2) around the same amount of polishing time, it didn't do good at all, because if you don't remember Dawn of War 2 was an atrocity at launch, bad balance, bad campaign, bad everything. It wasn't fixed for iirc 4 patches.
In other words, "I want to play as a Chaplain in Terminator fucking armor" if i a had a dollar for every game that has tanked because it was rushed out i would be fucking rich, now i know Space Marine wont tank that doesn't mean however that it will be as awesome as we all want it to be, and the most time it has of development the more chances it has of making more people happy, that's not opinion that's a fact.
It's unbelievable how many people fail to grasp the concept of "patience is a virtue"

So you know that
a) The developers have no experience or idea of what they're doing
b) That it will be rushed
c) That it will be insufficiently polished
Ninja theory works both ways.
Balance in an RTS is always shit poor to begin with, name one game which has had perfect balance off the bat. They could have polished it for five years and still got it wrong.
Also I fail to grasp how your dislike of DoW2 automatically makes it fact it was a bad game and that the same will apply for Space Marine. As far as I can tell you're throwing a hissy fit you can't play as a Chaplain in Terminator armour. Don't let that make you spout out irrational arguments though.

i didnt realise dow2 was a disaster at launch. :/

Nah, Shuma's exagerrating. Yeah, balance was pretty ugly at the start (not really an exception in RTS games, though), and I think there were some minor bugs in the campaign (not sure what, since I only played SP about 3 months after release). I still had lots of fun playing MP with Eldar (which were quite UP then) at release. Maybe that's because I didn't learn the game yet, and so the worst IMBAs didn't really emerge at my skill level.

Also, I don't think Shuma harbours any particular dislike for DoW2. If he did, he wouldn't mod for it.

Right, i dislike DoW 2 so much that i started modding it and that i already bought Retribution, don't put words in my mouth not once have i said that i don't like DoW 2, ever. As for the campaign, that's a matter of opinion i didn't like the repetitive campaign or the horrible "boss" battles, Chaos Rising was much better in that regard. Also, how could i even throw a hissy fit about not being able to play as a Chaplain when we don't know if we can play as a Chaplain or not? it was a joke, then again i'm not specially surprised that someone that still writes turrets as turrents didn't get that as obvious as it was.
As for the balance thing, it's true all RTS games come out with awful balance, however Relic games tend to come out with worse than usual balance. Do i really need to remind you of the IG? Or the Necrons? Or the Tyranids? Chaos? All caused terrible balance nightmares when the games where they were introduced came out.

You forgot the lolbeam for Dark Eldar.

Only because i didn't buy Soulstorm at Launch and only bought it to get into the DoW II beta :p
I personally thought Banshees and/or Warp Spiders were much worse than Nids in the pre-release beta, but this is getting horribly off-topic.

Don't forget turrent rushing when there was no soft AV.
I didn't play Eldar too much in the beta but yeah, now that you mention it Warp Spiders were stupidly overpowered. They shredded infantry and iirc even heavy infantry in seconds and because their teleport ability they rarely even lost squad members.

In the beta, Banshees and Warp Spiders were indeed quite extreme. 0 day patch is another story altogether.
