View Full Version : Any sign of a story? *SPOILER*

It's not really that important (for me WH40K have been more about the feeling, grim-dark and all that) however that video with the Blood Ravens could hint there's something more than just "come to deal with Ork-threat, surprise, surprise Chaos is the real enemy". I'm guessing it's just a cameo but even if the choice of going with Ultramarines was to give the game a more familiar face it might just open up some room to do something interesting with the Blood Ravens.

You really want it? Okay.
Orks attack to get a titan in construction. They succeed in attacking, not seizing the titan (because this is where you come in).
Then shortly afterwards you learn that there's Inquisition there, and the Inquisitor has some experimental device he either seized from somewhere or created it himself. He loses it/gets killed defending it and asks you to retrieve it. You do. Then somehow Chaos shows up, with the Inquisitor being possessed, or not, because spoiler twist. Then you go kill Chaos, and Orks, and traitors. And the Emperor loves you, gives you an armada of spaceships and then everybody danced the dinosaur.

And then device is used as a deus ex machina and is destroyed forever.

"Danced the Dinosaur"? Sounds like they got as high as sh1t.

Well let's hope for a sequel where we can play as Gabriel Angelos - screw Kratos, Marcus Fenix, Masterchief and the rest of he heretics - Gabriel Angelos beats them all.
I also would love to have a 4 player co-op of Tarkus, Cyrus, Avitus, and Thaddeus, and they go on a mission to hunt down and destroy the corrupted Force Commander who joined the Black Legion.
Oh please no. I like the Blood Ravens but can we keep them in Dawn of War? I know they're in Space Marine but not as the protagonists, maybe this games are a chance for other Chapters to get a spotlight... Well, in a perfect world it would be, odds are we're only going to get Ultramarines. Ultramarines everywhere.

i agree, blood Ravens need to stay with the DoW series. if DoW is going down then they should be going down with it(they can still show up like they do in SM but like Shuma said not as the protagonists)
and UM are cool, but i really hope we DON'T play as them again in the next SM. if it gets made that is.

A cameo with one of them as an NPC would be cool.

One of them? There's an entire gameplay segment of the game where you fight alongside an entire squad of Blood Ravens against Chaos ^^;
Like this one for example (29JgcYS1UBY)
"The Blood Ravens have come to steal our glory!"
Totally should be a line in the game.

Steal their glory? More like "requisition" the Ultramarines equipment and holy relics behind Titus' back so that they can be used in any possible Dawn of War 3 ;).

What do you mean DoW is going down?
That's your guys opinion, but I would love to play as a Blood Raven; a game like this could really help develop the Blood Ravens further, and appreciate them in ways we can't in a RTS game. Tarkus, Avitus, Cyrus, and Thaddeus in a 3rd person game like this, instead of just a RTS. I think the storytelling would be much more compelling, and it be great to see how badass they are in a game like this - not to mention watching Avitus rage all over the enemies of Mankind with his Heavy Bolter. That's my hope for the future of the series.
I will be hoping to play as Dreadnaught Thule and go on a total rampage through a traitor guard army.
It's funny because it's true, i already see "relic boltgun of Captain Titus" as wargear in DoW III.
Avitus is dead. And if he wasn't, he surely wouldn't be fighting the enemies of mankind. Unless of course, it was a prequel to DoW II.
And yes it's just opinions, i for one would rather have the Blood Ravens be the protagonists of DoW, that's what they were made for and is where i believe should stay. I don't like the idea of having the Blood Ravens as protagonists of every 40k game Relic makes in the future, i don't even like the idea of the Imperium always being the protagonist. Who wouldn't like a game with Orks as protagonists? Or Chaos? Now that'd be awesome.
And i'm not sure what more developing the Blood Ravens need, unless you mean character development. And even then, it's like you're implying that the only way to develop them further is with a non rts game, and that makes no sense at all.

Well, depending on the ending of Retribution; wouldn't the Ultramarines just kill all the blood Ravens to make sure there was no taint.
Well i doubt it, because obviously Titus himself doesn't have the man power in order to do so, and clearly he's fighting alongside the Blood Ravens, and the Ultramarines themselves are probably too busy to go hunting random renegade chapters. If the Imperium wanted the Blood Ravens dead they'd send a chapter dedicated at killing other Space Marines, like the Minotaurs or the Space Wolves. In fact, it would be kind of fun if that ever happened, that the Minotaurs took place in the story, considering they and the Ultramarines are not exactly what you'd call friends. Then again the Space Wolves would also be fitting, assuming the Blood Ravens are truly loyal Thousand Sons.
But i like the Minotaurs more, what with them having enough Mk. 8 and Terminator armor to arm the entire chapter and with them being the enforcers of Terra, they're more fun.
That said, the Blood Raven ending will probably be the canon ending of Retribution, with some bits and pieces of the other endings, and Gabriel Angelos wouldn't let the Chapter go renegade... Probably.

What do you mean DoW is going down? what? i never said DoW is going down.
IF it goes down.
You'll find that the concept of "if" is very hard to grasp on the internet.
