Are protest song a lost art? Each era has had significant moments in history recorded in music, from Patti Smith, Bob Dylan, Public Enemy, and Dead Kennedy to name but a few from previous generations. Here in Australia there has been numerous artists such as Ruby Hunter, Archie Roach, John Butler, Kev Carmondy who have taken on complex social issues such as 'stolen children generations', 'deaths in custody', 'environmental degredation' etc.

This is one of my fav. ATM. Given that we now share a global commons I am interested in finding out from members what 'protest songs' are currently capturing the attention in your respective countries. I grew up on a diet of US/Australian/South American protest songs, so I'm interested in hearing songs from different countries/cultures and whether or not they make a difference. So please post away and share, protest songs are not a lost art.
