This perk is the ONLY thing that makes combat knives viable against Assaults or anything really.
Why not have the perk equip the Tactical with a Chainsword instead and disable the use of two-handed ranged weapons and buff Combat Knives as I suggested in another thread?
Just a thought really, but there have been players who've been talking about that.

Serrated Combat Knives more or less are Chainswords without the visual flare. I don't see the point in changing this. Although I do think there needs to be a fourth class that is melee based without an assault jetpack.

Except Serrated Combat Knives aren't chainswords. They don't have the same reach and they only have a three-hit combo.

This option sounds fine to me. Leave all as is for now, but allow Tacs to equip Chainswords at the cost of anything bigger than pistols. Of course, that would basically make them Assault Marines without jumppacks, and that means wtihout the speed and maneuverability that melee weapons require in a shooty world, but we shouldn't stop folks from gimping themselves if they want, or roleplaying I guess.
You could also grant True Grit to Tac Marines, which would allow them to trade their Pistol for a Bolter. That would leave them with only 1 perk slot left, which means they could (and probably would) get the Krak ammo, but that should be okay, since it's balanced by the crazy spread Bolters have without the targetting sight.

Of note, Chainsword does same damage (to the number) as Serrated Blade, so this would both make sense AND be fluffy as hell.
