Came across this the other day, Kickstarter is a pledge funding system for startup projects including indy games like the Galactic 4X Stardrive linked below and many others.

I thought it worth a mention.
If you are interested why not fund it or pick a project you do like, back it, then tell us about it. :Oogle:

Good news for all 4X fans, 414 Backers have so far pledged $12,287 exceeding the $7,500 goal by quite a wide margin proving there are enough of us out there to make games like this financially viable.
The guy making it has said he is giving up his day job and going pro!

Not bad, he is overfunded to 163%.
The 3D printer (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/printrbot/printrbot-your-first-3d-printer?ref=discover_pop) is another project I like and is overfunded an amazing 2,462% and is well and truely a go. Plus I think the guy behind it has hit the big time having sold promises on a thousand kits and printers at $499 a go. Will be interesting to see if he delivers and begins the 3D printing revolution as he said he wants to.

Oh I like both of those project (I wonder how good that 3D printer is for wargaming sized models!). Great to see projects like this which can hook up investors and those who want to push new products and new ideas; esp in a world where a lot of getting to market is held by big companies (who whilst open to new ideas are also going to limit things based on their own policies).
Can't wait to see StarDrive get finished (and a cynical side is wondering how many of those supporters are disgruntled SotSII fans ;))
