HW:C + XP + P4, without patch

I'm stuck using an iMac to access the internet for a few weeks, so I'm playing some of my old games on my temporarily internet-less PC. When starting HW:C, both the Sierra logo and the Barking Dog shiz play, then when it's about to go into the main menu, it quits to desktop. No error messages or nothin, just quits. Obviously I can't get the patch to resolve this issue, so hopefully there's some fix or something I can apply without using the internet?

Specs:
WinXP (fresh install + no internet = no updates)
P4 1.5GHz
GF4 Ti-4600 running Det4 27.42 drivers
SB Live Platinum 5.1 running default drivers that never give probs.

You need the patch. P4 compatibility was added with it.
