View Full Version : Want to become a Space Marine?

Deathwing
16th Jun 04, 9:57 AM
If some guy ( hopefully not Fabius Bile) comes to you and says:

"Do you want to become a Space Marine?

You'll have to take an ass full of pain, maybe even die, but then you will travel to the stars and see worlds no one has ever seen before. You will fight with the best armour and weapons available. Also you will be able to live for centuries.
With the modifications made within you, your body, your mind and your strength will increase enormous.

If you do well, you might even one day make Chapter Master.

But decide wisely. The decision once made can't be taken back.

If you decide to become a Space Marine, you will have to leave behind everything and everyone you ever loved or cared about."

So, what would be your descision?

If you want to become a Space Marine, please tell us, which chapter you want to join. Even if you aren't sure to become one, let us know which would it probably be.

I for myself can't decide, if I want to become a Space Marine. Leaving everybody behind makes me feel bad. But if I would become a Space Marine, I'd like to join the Dark Angels!

i would be a black templar termie with two lightning claws rideing around in a land raider crusaider

or those dragon guys but i think they were declared excommunicate and exterminated

and i couldent be a da because then i would have to hate cypher and i think he is a good guy but i think that the da want him dead cause he knows too much

It would be cool to be a marine but the whole pain and most likely not surviving the process thing doesn't sound too attractive.

But if I had no choice I would probably be a Blood Angel.

Jesse, i think you are reffering to the black dragons, they are not declared excommunicate traitoris. The inquisition is indeed a bit grumpy about their deviancy but they accept it as they are a effective force.

As for the space marine question: Anyone offered that would accept it in the 40st milenium. I would accept it, I mean you basically become one of the emperor clone-grandsons. Plus you will be really kickass.

No thanks, I enjoy being able to consort with women and generally enjoy my deviant lifestyle.

KingKupo

well it is the 40st millenium. If the inquisition doesn't kill you, some war will.

Statistically speaking it is far safer to be a civilian than to be a Space Marine.

No way. They're too much of war-mongers for my liking. I'd rather be an Inquisitor, root out evil from the Empirium, control large forces (Sisters, StormTroopers), authority and political power, participating in battle but not getting killed by a random bullet out of nowhere, and if my ex shows some attitute, I can declare her a heretic :D

I'd become a Space Marine, only to succumb to Chaos as soon as I could ;). Naturally I'd avoid Mr. Bile like the plague, and try to work my way towards the good ol' Word Bearers. Naturally I play World Eaters, but the prospect of running into Kharn would not be appeasing.

Sorry Empire, but you'd go down, and I'd be the fanatic summoning hoards of daemon legions to do it! :).

'sides, after the first 200 years, I hear your life expectancy goes up with those nifty Veteran skills ;).

marine in the 21st century vs. a marine in the 40k century, there cant be that big of a difference, eh?

heh, just kidding, definately a son of russ here.

I rather serve as an imperial guardmen. They don;t need stinkin armour to win their battles.

Ferretarmour

thats because the row of guys in front of them are armour...

I'd be a 1337 ultramarine

I definately become a marine. I'm not sure about chapter though. I play Blood Angels, but I'm not sure I'd want to be one. I'd probably actually join the Ultramarines.

Actually, marines are incapable of sexual relations, even asuming they had the time (which they don't).

NOW GIMME THAT PLASMA GUN :)

If I were selected to be a Space Wolf I definately would!

(Apart from the fact this probably means I've got fatal injuries that can't be healed otherwise ;))

I thoroughly enjoyed SPACE WOLF by William King, which details the journey of when Ragnar was chosen to become a Space Marine and his trials of the wulfen.

I love the Space Wolves as they just have so much character!

Kaela-M-Khaine

If anything i'd be a Scorpion, or Pathfinder

Do the space marines ever get sex? They're usually in their poweramours (unless there's a little hatch down there..) or in battle or in training and I doubt they have wives (if he has one, she's getting banged back home). Now unless the chapter master pays the round for everybody at the local brothel, they'll most likely to turn on themselves...

Well, if i remember right, space marine cant get his armour off anymore. Atleast Terminators cant, its part of their body.

Cmdr_Adeon
17th Jun 04, 10:33 AM
No, loyal marines are perfectly capable of removing their armor, even terminators (who often fight in power armor). You are probably thinking either of chaos marines who often are melded into their armor, or dreadnaugts where the marine inside is almost dead and the dreadnaught is the only thing keeping him alive.

Defcon

Join the Emperor's Children. You may or may not have a relationship revolving around sexual pleasure, but you'll be on so many things at the same time that killing a man will probably be able to do the same effect ;).

Slaneesh if you all of you depraved little people out there who think in the 41st Millenium you still need to get down! ;).

And just as a note: I wouldn't become a Space Marine wanting to join Chaos. I just think I'd be easily swayed ;).

HannibalBarca
18th Jun 04, 12:05 AM
I signed on. I would probably be a Blood Angel and and freak out half the time. ( I hear that space wolves blood claws do the same just not with blood on the brain and strange images :argh:) I me be a crazy Space Marine but ill be a kickass one at that. Anyways if we were being chosen then we are most like feral people who have crap lives anyways. :bandit: Lets just hope drinking from the grail of blood does not drive me mad like Idiana Jones and the Temple of Doom......... :gonemad: see its already happening....

TheWatcher
18th Jun 04, 4:57 AM
Ehh...if I HAD to be a Space Marine it would definately be a Blood Angel.

But I'd just as easily say yes to being a Battlesuit pilot or an Inquisitor *shrugs* or an Imperial Guard General or, hell, Commissars are rather groovy.

HOWEVER, after reading Execution Hour what I would really want to be is Captain of an Imperial Battlecruiser...preferably Mars-Class (I think that's the class of the Macharius...may be Lunar but I can't quite remember. The one that can launch fighters :) ) 'cos those Battleships are just too darned slow for me.

I know I wouldnt want to be a Marine.

Sure it sounds awesome. Multiple organs, superhuman strength, longer life span, the power armor, the respect...

You can't do anything with it tho because your life would be devoted to war and to the Emperor. Less than 5 hours of sleep a day, constant training and praying to the Emperor, complete dedication to the Empire... They are machines of war, there's no real balance to their lives. I guess it's sort of fitting in a universe where 'there is only war', but I can still see any other race spending time to relax and somewhat enjoy life more than just constant training and praying.

I wouldn't mind being a high-ranking Artificier or non-Adeptus personell working closely with the Chapters, but I don't think that I want to be a Marine.

I'll rather be the Imperial nobleman with a secret harem of Eldar sex slaves.

well they are supposed to be warrior monks after all... what do expect them to do except devot themselves to the service ( eehhehe a said service) of the emporer, and a life of prayer.

but yeah i certainly wouldn't, or i would and would run str8 for the EoT asap lol

Maybe in Dungeons and Dragons land, but in actual history. 'Paladins' is what the 12 retainers of Charlemagne were called. And that's from a story - The Song of Roland - no one knows if they all were real. Otherwise, there were never any real life paladins. It's a name from legend, is all.

You are wrong about monastic orders. Some were militant, i.e. they bore arms and fought the infidel in the Holy Land (and Eastern Europe). Chief amongst these were the Knights Hospitaller, the Knights Templar, and the Teutonic Knights. These were absolutely monastic orders, thus the members are properly called monks. In fact, the Hospitallers started out as Benedictines. It is these orders whom the Space Marines most closely resemble.
