What's the difference between power sword/axe and chain sword/axe?

Exactly like it sounds more or less :) A power sword/axe has a built-in power generator that essentially wraps the blade in energy and makes it cut through armor like butter.
A chain sword/axe is more or less a powered version of a sword or axe with teeth. Its basically just like a chainsaw, but of course in much more nasty form ;)

Thx I guess the power sword is better right?

Absolutely :)
Basically, chainswords are your "standard issue" weapon versus power weapons being saved for your elite troops.

Ok cool, but what about the axe of khorne? Isn't it a chain axe, yet it's supposedly one of the best HtH weapon?
Correct me if I'm wrong, I have very limited fluff knowledge :)

Alright, now we're talking "specialty" weapons :)
That's a chain-axe that's got a few upgrades and is more or less blessed by the Blood God himself. Nasty nasty weapon.
Pardon my sketchy memory for the moment, but I believe the Axe of Khorne is what Kharn the Betrayer himself uses. Hits on a 2+ and all this horrid mush in the TT :)

There is also a "khornate axe" which IIRC for any 6's you roll to hit, you add another attack, or maybe that was the old edition rules. I remember something to do with the best armour save you get versus one is 4+ or something...not sure....
Basically it's an enhanced version of a chain axe ;)

I don't think this would be a problem with GW, but if a mod feels it is, feel free to delete parts :Slap:

Kaela, its generally excepted posting little bits, for example the stats of a couple of weapon or a single rule like "ATSKNF", is OK. Its when you start posting (or hosting on a site) verbatim chunks out of rulebooks/codexes you'll get into trouble.

Thanks that's what I thought because I read an article once about Karn the Betrayer and his powerful axe of Khorne and there was a drawing next it illustrating him and his chained axe.
That's why I was wondering :)
PS: I don't understand the copyright thingy? :wtf2:

Not with Games Workshop though, If you goto www.Eldaronline.com/community you'll see that they are very serious about the Copyright thing and that you cannot post any kind of GW rule anywhere. GW is harsh on these things...So thats why i keep stating copyright...

Yeah if you do anything that isn't vague Rasmus will come down on it like a Titan's foot.
This bit may be a little sensitive for mods though.
Kharn the Betrayer wields Gorechild which is built like a frostaxe out of dragon teeth which is the 2+ thingy. The Axe of khorne grants extra attacks for sixes (and is a power weapon) and the Chainaxe is like an Ork Choppa.

Nope nope :). Axe of Khorne isn't a Chain weapon (or at least not in any form I've ever seen it). It's a power weapon. And it has the re-roll on a 6 rule. Khornate Chain axe is like a standard infantry weapon with some extra impressive rules.
Our good buddy Kharn has a vicious chain axe called Gorechild. It's not an Axe of Khorne, but more like a Khornate Chain axe taken to the extreme... If people here were not so worried about GW coming down on them, I'd be a bit more helpful, but I'd rather respect their concern :).

Chain-weapons have monomolecular edged teeth.
And the oldest power weapons are basically lightsabers from Star Wars (the Eisenhorn Trilogy)

Right, thanks for clarifying peeps :)
Been out of TT for over a year sadly enough (not by choice) and I have so few of the codecies on hand.
Anyway, right, Power Weapon > Chainsword/axe :)

Aye :) And don't worry about not keeping up to speed. These days you have to spend every waking hour on their website, and if you're not you must be instead reading White Dwarf to keep up with all new developments. A psychic link to a dev wouldn't hurt either...
For example, due to exams/related shit a few months ago I dropped out of the hobby for a bit. No worries, I thought to myself, I'll pick it up again in a few months. What do I find? Sister of Battle Codex? Storm of Chaos Campaign? NEW RULEBOOK? That was...sudden...
