Fluff, what is it?

hi, i have been here alot, and have been posting here for some time, and throughout my time here i have seen many things talking about the "fluff." i've seen it used to suggest that its a bit more than the standard backstory provided in the codex. so how does it work, and whats the deal with it?

if this has been answered, can someone please link me, since i have tried searching and the function doesn't work. (mabye due to spyware, which i have a large infestion of atm)

thx, thats the kinda info i was lookin for, short and sweet

so does that mean that technically everything that is done can be part of the fluff, all it has to do is be accepted by GW to be added in?
