This mod is going to be based on a whole fleet of new ships for both sides. Since Archanon is offline as of now this will be news to him because as far as he knows, were only making one ship, but if their will be a denied offer from him, then I will need someone else capable of converting the moddels i make from obj. files to hod files. As he is capable of it, i hope others are too.

I have at my site a forum.... so we can communicate faster..... and i will be building a mod page for the site.. soon

The story behind the mod is the echo-geek people of hiigaria and vagyr world...lol..... are over throwing the artillery commanders for the reason of sub atomic poision in their current weapons so they make the goven reduce the levels and replace 2or more turrented or armed vessel with one missile launcher for higgys, and one pulsar gun for vaggys, to reduce space pollution..... AND ALSO THE SICENTIST HAVE CAME OUT WITH 4 NEW SHIPS FOR EACH SIDE...... DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNN :argh: :argh: ...


I need help for this mod so please this could be a GREAT MOD :argh: :argh: :argh:

if you read their is a change with 1 weapon on any ship in the game for higgy a missile luancher, and a pulsar gun for vaggies,...... what skills are you good at and why would you join, what exactly can you do for this great starting mod???? :) :) :) :)

Looks promising. Unfortunately, you seem to have a modeller, which is about all I can do at the moment, and my free time is limted. Don't have much time to get into the scripting side (though I really need to), as well as I am working on learning to texture, but I have no skill at that yet.

I can see if I can get anything together, but we will see. I will help if I can. I personally like Rhino 3D (which will export OBJ files). Are there any thoughts on what they need to look like or any concepts?

oh an i tryed my destroyer out and it was like a chemalon on me, it tured black blue and green every now and then for a while..... is that cus theirs no texture on it?

and 1 more thing, hows the progress on my battle cruiser.... don't that thing look sweet?

Those colors is because there's no decent texture and the shader is messing up... did you try the .big file??? it's less with the .big file...

Let me give you a couple of pointers on that post.

1) Excessive use of capital letters, smilies and exclamation marks don't make your posts better. In fact, it makes it a lot worse. I for one refuse to read posts that are the typed equivalent of a drunk moron yelling at me.

2) Have you read the guidelines? Theres one, number four if memory serves, that states that warez talk of any kind will not be tolerated on these Fora. Asking people to illegaly copy Maya 5 for you falls in that category. Don't do that, not even as a joke.

3) To answer your original question: Maya is sold in two versions, Complete and Unlimited. The former should be somewhere in the vicinity of $1500, the latter around $5000. The latest version, Maya 6, is even more expensive.
However, there are some student licenses available for around $400, IIRC, which is still a lot of money, but more affordable than the regular price.

Once you learn to spell, and speak like an adult.... you could get into/access to a university computer lab, which usually retains alot of licenses to modelling programs (this is how I got my Maya 5 license). Otherwise... you're up the creek unless you want to use the Maya PLE -> UT2k4-export -> Deep Exploration -> HW2 route.

As far as I know they don't transfer over. When you use the UT2k4 plug, it exports as a usable model, so it axes all the tagging that gets thrown into the scene when you try to render it in Maya (that stuff is only there so people don't try to use PLE to make production quality renders that can be sold, it doesn't screw with the actual mesh, to my knowledge).

oww yeah... and why are you releasing something in a zip folder???? now it overwrites everything.... why not use a .big file... that's much better, and you will be able to restore your original HW2 setup... :smash:

Well... the release you made is a mess...

1. You included all the .ship and .event files everyone allready has...
2. You included the maya source ( .ma file) for the missiledestroyer... noone needs that...
3. you included the complete data.zip !!!! .. the total release could be about 6 files... you released more than 100!!!! (including the .ma file :fight: )...

I looked at 4 hiigaran ships.. (ionfrigate, destroyer, bc and interceptor)... they are completely the same as the original...... why did you add them in????

Btw... creating a .big file takes only 5 minutes...

I finished the last 3 models, they all have about 500 polys-1400 polys, so they won't be trouble, I think. When the BC is done Pm me give me the file and i will give you the link to all three ships in obj format and including a readme on what i want the guns to be for the model... i will have that done soon so we might just make it a mod for higgys if SOME1 don't APPLY to MAKE the VAGYR side of the MOD.

We now need a modeller for the Vaygr side, and we also could use another person who can convert obj to hod and also script it( that would be a great help to archanon, since hes been working so hard) and WE STILL NEED A TEXTURER...........so anyone with maya would be nice enough to texture the ships for us....

Its precisely because you get so frustrated and petulent that people have a hard time taking you seriously. Tone down the caps, clean up your grammar and actually present a product thats clean and coherent and people will return the favor with clear and concise comments that will help you further develop your idea. Seeing as how the talent pool is spread as thin as is, I'd count myself lucky to even have Archanon volunteering to convert and script your models (which aren't spectacular or impressive to begin with). So far, most of us (like Moe and myself) have only been interested in helping you appear to be a respectable modder (or forumite, whichever you choose to lable yourself as) but you have to act like an adult to get the other "adults" around here to really take notice and help you out.

As for being off-topic, since all of these posts have been in responce to something you typed, any one of us could claim it was you who dragged the discussion off-topic. But in any case if you really really really want help, go to the gallery forum and PM the talented folks over there to help you (as they would most certainly be put off if they ever decided to read through this whole thread). Again, we're trying to help, but you have to hold up your end if want a product worth mentioning later on.

People of the Relic Forums,

If you have seen Homeworld and played it too. Game of the year is a big title and you would think that people would be intrested in number 2, but obviously Relic, and Serria goofed up a bit and now we have been reduced to waiting for a miracle to happen to make ships for free and without a fuss. But look at this mod, Honestly, This is one of the few mods that has finnaly gotten a ship in game skotch free. Thanks to the help of Archanon who currently is( or shall I say that I hope he is working on my battle cruiser) working on converting another ship for the mod. So lets get to the facts:

-Weapons on Higiigarn, and Vagyr have been altered on ships with more than one weapon point.

-3 other ships that I have completed are still in Wings 3D format, but due to one of Archanon's PM's I have made my design standard for this mod much much much better.

-A un-textured Missile Destroyer has been put in game.

So as of now, Techincally the Hiigarian side's new ships are all created but not formatted. Thats about 42% of this mod is complete. The reason why 8% from the 50 is not there is because nobody has textured it. I now am going to get serious and declare this a OFFICIAL MOD. Because I believe that now is the time for the preperation of DELPHY's HW2SE. By doing that, we should support him by finishing this mod saying in general that we still can make ships with hard work and effort and put them in the game, but only because we are praticing for when he releases his tool.

Not only did I become a jerk and insult the people who commentated on this thread but I also relized just now, why they spammed it; I talked like a 5year old, and spelled like a Ld student, and in doing so, gave you the impression that I am a slacker and I am not serious. I am going to stop that now and become serious as for one, this forum is full of adults and mature teens. I may be 14 years old and going into my Sohmore Year of Highschool but my teacher have always given me A's and High B's. NOW I AM GOING TO PROVE THAT TO YOU ADULTS AND SHOW YOU THAT TEEN'S CAN BE SERIOUS.

Please forgive me for :fight: and being :werd: and not cherishing the people on this forum who play homeworld. Please forgive me and lets MAKE THIS MOD GOOD!!!

Here is the real story behind the mod in a professional format:

Due to certain pollutants in the Vaygr's and Higariian's weaponry, their people have protested and coincendentaly at the same time their people both overthrew their top milartarys weapon desiging General. Causing a reduction on high matinence ships(any thing above a 1 gunned ships) pollutants, in short, one weapon on a ship with more than one gun is replace by a cleaner less toxic weapon. The reason the people wanted this, was the recent deaths due to radiation on their homeplanets. So on Hiigaria, hiigarians were keen on the science behind missiles, and so they were using the missile luancher as a replacement weapon. The Vaygarians decided since they thought that pulsar technology was the most cool looking weapon, and safe, they picked that as a replacement weapon. But their was a spy in the ranks in Fighter, Destroyer, Frigate, and Super-Capital Research facilitys, so they eliminated their enimies spys and begain construction on new vessels since most of their designs were examined and plotted for weaknesses back to their spys mothership, and each side found out that is was Maekaon and Karen's ships were the ones involved, so Karen thought that theirs more power in numbers so she build with less time and effort, 5 new ships while the Vagyr build 3 medium armed ships as Maekaon decided to use force and power in his plan.

And now the War has begun.........

Ok I bet your all wondering how I went through such a maturity improvement, but now its time to shut those hanging lower lips... lol :jk: :D



Let's hear them ethical and nice opinions and instructional comments while I get dirty and work on this mod!!! :D

See, its not so hard, I'm sure if you shop this new idea around, people might be a bit more helpful. At the very least, no one will be able to accuse of being less than professional (so their lack of cooperation is entirely their own problem, and not yours).

As for credit, I don't need it, as I was once in your very same position, I'm just doing my duty to make sure the next generation of modders doesn't get off on the wrong foot and in doing so doom itself to failure.

Have you SEEN HIS MODELS..... they are really nice models to look at.....(wouldn't mind having him model for this mod...hehe). but with that said and done, i have one more question:

Did you try downloading and trying out my mod because i really need some opinions to improve the capablities of this mod.
What do you think of the models that I have posted so far......

I will say when I release the battle cruiser and my Quad-Gunner Frigate...... man, people are going to drop their lower lip....hmmmm....maybe I should release that rough picture now....ok.....I will do it. So in about 5 minutes I will release the pics of all my Higgy ships, but none of them are in hod format yet, their in obj. so the textures aren't there yet either....*whisper*->But guess what? Archanon never said he couldn't texture, but he said only that it takes to much time! That could be a lead to who can texture...lol...i sound like a spy.....

the post makes it look silly, there's no need for it unless they are the "guns on sticks race" just put the guns on the hull directly (it makes no difference to the game and it looks better)

if anything make the posts more substantial, maybe the same diameter as the base of the gun so that it actually looks like it won't snap off.

Small041: As far as I know, Unicron is too busy with other issues to spend any time on modding right now. The last post of his that I read stated that he would stop modding for a while, so chances are you will not get him to do model work for your mod.

I agree with evillejedi. You should take away those posts, they are unnecessary. And you should think about moving one pair of guns further towards the center of the ship. The way it looks right now the ship can't fire all of its guns forward or broadside without one line of guns hitting the other one.
I recommend putting two guns on top and two on the bottom. That way you retain your "quad gunner" title, the ship is less vulnerable against attacks from below, and it can bring all four weapons to bear on a single target without hitting itself.

Ok, now I have really got to get a Texturer, this mod is currently going nowhere. Do all mods start off this way? I would like some suggestions not only on the mod, but the story line too. Maybe someone could help this mod along, its not like its a really hard mof to make, I only am adding 10 ships 5 to H, and 4 to V and the weapon swap is already done.

Maybe someone would be intrested in moddeling the Vaygar side of this mod, if you would be intrested then post on the forums or Pm me. Thank you.

Ps. I really would like for everyone to forget how this mod first started, I did goof off and didn't present myself properly. So I want every one to think this thread started off where the first apololigy I made was posted... Dont even go to the begining because thats why nobody wants to help me out. AND please don't respond to any of the incidentts that occured, not this one either. I just want post about this mod and theroys and ideas. Please I want no commentary on the presentation, or any thing off topic of this mod.

Look, the main problem is that a mod requires a lot of work, especially if you want to add lots of ships. A lot of mods have started like yours, and most of them didn't go anywhere. Since you don't have that many people on your team, I suggest you try and get one or two ships in-game. Never mind the textures for now, just make sure all the weapons work, the build and research scripts are ok, and that the ships are balanced (that is, they don't annihilate whole fleets and make the game unfair).

To comment on your model: I like the engine section, but you have to do something about the bridge. It looks a little to fragile, like it could snap off easily.

well the missle destroyer took 1 min and 57 seconds to destroy a unguarded carrier... thats normal though.... and the bridge will be worked on ok. i see what you mean but we do have archanon working on the battlecruiser now, and i have the rest easy ships to convert.


Do u know anybody who would be willing to help out on my mod. This is a good mod idea. I've worked really hard on this, and just for it to be put in the archive dump...NO way I have to prove that this modding communty still has some spark in it. Because with over 5000 people in the forums, this should not be the way it is.

I've stopped in at game winners forums for homeworld:2 to see what it was like: it had tons of post for a multi-game forum, almost as many post as this forums. This is the Offical Homeworld Fourm. Shouldn't we all be modding and helping each other out.

There is absolutly NO ENERGY on these forums. Just by having alot of members dont make these forums alive. At least the homeoworld section is not alive as much as the other ones.

Moe, could you atleast download the mod and try it out and tell me what you think of it so far. I bet nobody has downloaded my mod yet!

The problem is that I have very little time at the moment, and that I'm also working on some models I created myself (and they have priority at the moment, B5 models...)...

Also your models are a bit weird... could have less polys with the same quality... (polys on the inside and double...they overlap....)...

small41 you really should learn to do basic textures.

one of the simplest ways to do this is to learn the uvw unwrap function (basically it takes each face and applies it to a texture)

you can do quick textures by rendering the ship from each side (all 6) and then resizing those renders to all fit on the same 1024x1024 texture (or smaller) then go use the UVW map to line up the different faces to your textures. From there you have a guideline to draw textures by hand or overlay generic metal textures (search online there's a lot of free ones)

Please explain what a UVW is ? and where can i get it from? really i am oblivious to texturing pLEASE HELP ME!!!!

ok i now have over 2 ships on the vaygr side done, so far, but for now on, untill archanon converts it, and scripts it their will be no previewsof the ships. I have limited time my self as i am orginizing a new mod that will be based on....(secret words in my mind). I want to just get both sides in this mod put in the game and then i will try to get someone to texture it, but as always we still could use a texturer soon, if not than i might donate this mod to another mod including all my ships if this mod fades away. but when i say donating, i mean my name and me in that mod team if these ships are used.

uh! i see ur even badder to texture than i am... well what i know is that UWV (at least in MAX) are a thing that defines how the textures are gonna sit like 45 degrees 90 degrees preferably 0 degrees and also controls how stretched that texture are gonna be... like really small or so big u can see the pixels... best is the box...

i have no idea how to use UWV unwrap... and im not very good at texturing either... so dont look at me...

BmB: at least you knew it was called UVW Unwrap, good on ya mate :) look for tutorials on that in google and you're bound to find stuff.

Small: Honestly, and I think the entire community will back me up on this, texture artists are near impossible to find, and the majority of them are actually modellers who got sick of waiting for one to show up so decided to learn themselves. Anyone who goes through the frustration necessary to reach that point (myself included) is going to want to use all that hard earned skill on their own mod projects, and not help out someone who has no clue what they're doing. The only way you're going to attract people to this mod is to stop begging and start learning. Look online for tutorials, there are thousands out there. It doesn't even matter what program you're using since most tutorials cover concepts rather than specific actions. I started out as a newbie too, trying to get my own mods going, one after another getting next to zero response. Now I am what I consider a fairly successful modder as such things go, being a member of a well known mod, and contributing to many of the more prestigeous ones. This isn't meant to be bragging, but rather to make a point. I didn't get here by begging people to do things for me. Instead I joined other people's mods, read a lot of tutorials, (a LOT of them), and started working on my own projects for my own fulfillment, not just to get recognition within the HW2 modding community. I'm not sure exactly what you're after, other than perhaps getting everyone to think you're the most uber modder ever to grace the HW galaxy, but all you're doing is pissing off the entire community (which isn't half as dead as you seem to think).

I would love to see you succede but it's not going to happen the way things are going. Your problem is not in your lack of skills, but in your abrasive attitude. It's time to step off your self appointed pedestal and get some real work done on your own. If you want advice, ask for it politely and you'll get tons of responses. Just don't ask for miracles and expect them to be delivered in a timely manner.

Just my 2 cents.

heh in my case I've been using 3ds max since it was 3ds 4 for dos!(at least what 7 years ago?), and I still don't know half the features. You are going to get no where if you don't devote excessive amounts of time to reading and learning.

i'm just going to rename the mod ask for this thread to be deleted and just copy the whole storyline to the new thread so everyone forgets about how this mod started. Because from the looks of things, every one is reading the thread completly then commenting on my additude. If anyone looked at the thread where the storyline was in Italics then what deathwish just said wouldn't of happend. I just want people to help me along with this mod, I am not a newb to begin with, i've made 3 other sucessfull mods awhile ago. With another name when my I got Broadband and my aol account was changed, so If you think hard, YOU might remember me, This all happend like in october and i re joined as another screenname....But I am keeping my identy A SECRET...heh he he. i bet you never made a single ship into the game before Archanon did it for you. i would have recognized your models :-P
