View Full Version : Where did you get that information about new Codices?

In this forum I've heard often about new codices that will be released shortly after the new rulebook.

I searched some GW sites, but there were no new codices mentioned. Those sites even say, that there are no new codices needed.

So please, can anybody tell me if there are going to be new codices?

And if there will be new ones, can you post the link?

Thanks in advance.

as far as i know all current codexes will be used with the new rules. a few armies which haven't had a codex update in some time, such as space marines and tyranids, will have new codexes printed. other armies like the Imperial Guard, Chaos, Tau, and necrons who have all had a recent codex update will not be reprinted any time soon.

Yes, thats the kind of information you can find around here, but I've never found anything official.

If someone could post a link I would be glad.

I asked a GW employee and he said the Orks are getting an update next year.

Look on rumor sites like Portent (http://www.portent.net/category/rumours/), Dysartes (http://www.dysartes.com/rumours/index.htm) and EO (rumour board) (http://www.eldaronline.com/community/index.php?board=51) thay have a lot of interview transcripts and suchlike.

So no official site has announced new Codices?

But thanks for the information anyway.

If someone finds anything official, please let me know.

On the other hand the weaknesses against other big tough things (aka the Wraithlord) will be gone along with the hideous repetetiveness of the Winged Hive Tyrant.

How is it repetative?

I just received an E-Mail from the guys who are writing the german issue of the White Dwarf.

I wanted to know two things:

1. If the upcoming background of the Blood Ravens will be published in Germany as well.

The answer: Yes, it will

2. Are there really new Codices in production?

The answer: Yes, there are. The first ( and for this year probably only ) new Codex
will be the SM Codex. Others will follow after that.

At least this is the answer I got from the german WD Team.

So I think now it can be taken as official: There will be new Codices.

GW doesnt like how they did the trnaid codex so thats why that want to come out with a new one. and eldar and SM have just gotten stuffadded to them and not really anything great.

"How is it repetative?"

There are way too many out there, thats how it is repetetive.

When they put out a new edition, they put out new Codices and models, however, it will porabably be awhile before the first even comes out, and it takes them several years to get thru all the armies. So what we have now should be pretty current for a while.

Yeah, look at WFB almost 3 years and they still haven't got Wood Elves or Chaos Dwarves out (and they are doing this damn Ogre Kingdoms force which I can see going horribly wrong).

the new 40k edition is gona be much different from updates in the past in the fact that it isnt going to be a whole new game, just some changes in a few areas like CC and vehicles. because of this they will not be redoing armies to match the new rules. all current models and codexes will remain. some codexes like the space marines and tyrands are being updated because they are in need of an update. not because of the new rules update. most of this info i read in White Dwarf or saw on GW.com so i;m pretty shure its all official.

Well i suppose that with the Tyranid fluff of them constantly evolving a new codexes with probable new models fits...

A note on the Tyranids, apparently Carnifexes are going to come in Broods of 1-3 models. Each is able to take two Heavy Weapon choices as well. The new 40k update allows Monstrous Creatures to take two HW choices, so it looks like this might be legit. Imagine, six Venom Cannons? That's pretty crazy.

Pretty expensive too!

But horribly effective. And people call the Wraithlord overpowered! I can't have 9, 6 of which carry starcannons can I? If anything they are being deliberately made rarer (which is a good thing).

btw I know this is a rumour but...

Yeah, it's pretty crazy. I play 'nids as well as Chaos, but I won't do three 'fexes with Venom Cannons, unless I know my opponent will make a beardy army. I don't even own three 'fexes. Again, it's all just a rumor anyways so who knows if we'll even need to worry about it :P
