my favourite conversion is the imperial gaurd lascannon on the back of the rhino
and all together it comes to 2406 points

It would probably be a good idea to actually follow the rules set down in the Codex.

the command squad is inspired by the blood angel death company and all the plasma type guns are inspired by the dark angels

the dreadnought can have twin-linked heavy bolters, its just they dont sell them

im going to get a lascannon to replace the multi-melta

the lascannon on the rhino is just for show

and the assualt cannon on the land speeder just upgrades it to a tornado

and the only thing then not following the rules then would be the command squad and squad 4s plasma pistol sergeant

er... 4 RL in a devestator squad?

Under Ground

yeah 4 missile launchers in a devastator squad is exellent cos they can take out tank nasties or groups of infantry

multi-meltas probably arent better than missile launchers cos they hav the same effect on tanks at range
but for them to super good on tanks youve gotta put them real close so they have to move making them not able to shoot during the turn and makes them vunerable to enemy shots in ur enemys turn
your enemy will just move the tank out of good range so the hole game you'll follow the tank around
against infantry the multi-melta is good but it doesnt have enough range and experienced gamer will not send troops into multi-meltas he'll blast them at range because the multi-meltas cant shoot back
lascannons are great against tanks, theyve got range to but against infantry theyve got no chance

Strength 5 frag isn't terribly effective against the heavier troops of the 40k universe. Yeah, not bad for troop munching, but with a lascannon, you always get an instant kill if you hit unless they have an invulnerable save. I'd say mix it up with 2 and 2, personally... that extra +1 on Strength for a lascannon could mean the difference in a battle...

They do sell them at Forge World. You can also get Dreadnaught arms with twin autocannons, plasma cannon, and multimelta.

Sorry, what? Are you saying multimeltas are better anti-infantry weapons that rocket launchers?

I like rocket launchers, because they are more versatile than other heavy weapons. Frag missiles are good against horde armies, krak missiles are good against most vehicles as well as against characters in power armour, most of whom are insta-killed.

As peer said missile launchers are one hell of a lot more versatile. i'd much rather have 4 of them than 4 lascannons because they can deal with both infantry and light vehicles, and lascannon isnt much better for taking out heavy vehicles with only 1 more strength. And I must say i'd love to let someone use so many plasma weapons in a command squad... that way I'd have a lot less points to worry about... plasma weapons are good in moderation or with defenses against them (guard command squad - 3 plasma guns and a medic :D) but they are pretty wasteful with so many in an already high points unit.

Felonious - forge world is so expensive :P and gamesworkshop is to

stormblade - yep your right i think i'll replace the command squad pistols with bolt pistols

i think missiles are good in dev squads and replace the ones in tac squads with lascannons

if a plasma pistol is master-crafted that means if i roll a 1 to hit i can re-roll it right so my model has a chance not to suffer a wound right?

youve given me some painting to do

you save so much points on dropping the terminators honours for everyone but the force commander, just make a 5 man termie squad, waaay o many vet sergeants with that upgrade atm

Under Ground

vet sarges get termie honours anyway thats what the extra attack is for if comand squad and force commander charge it gets A25

If you're going to go for the best all round Devastator squad weapon Plasma cannons are miles ahead. Blast radius, and massive power.

As a Dark Angels player i have a plasma cannon and a melta gun in one of my tactical squads. The other 3 are flamer/missle launcher although intend to make at least one mor plasma cannon/plasma gun.

Repeat after me; Plasma death is good.
