[Howto?]Console Commands

I know how to get into the console, which is actually great cause most RTS dont have one at all.
But I cant find any commands for it. I searched for IC commands and found only cheats. Really all I need is mabey something to show FPS, pings, ect. Stuff so I can tell if Im the one lagging and so on. Thanks

I've hit escape before and something vaguely resembling a DOS box has come up covering the top 2/3 of my screen. There are maybe 12-15 lines of code displayed there. Is this the console? How do I get out of this? :werd:

you cycle throught some commands when you press tab in the console

actually, it isnt, the ' key is the console command and one free command is quit, this was the only way i could get out of the console until i found out which key closed it again

... On my keyboard ` and ~ are the same key. I used ~ because ` isn't recognizable by most people.

Yes the symbol that most people recognize is ~ (called the tilde key) for opening the console.

Of course there are different keyboard configurations out there. Windows Keyboard Layouts (http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/keyboards.aspx)
It only works with Internet Explorer and Java turned on. But thats Microsoft for you.

i must have an incredibly wierd keyboard then, my ` key in the top left with the ~ being right next to my return key and the ' key is on a seperate key next to the ~, i usually end up opening the command console when i type things like " it'll "

apostrophe is the european console key.
tilde is the american console key.

Read the hotkeys sticky up top of this forum, the console comes down on ~,` and i think ' depending on what keyboard layout you use.

Actually for German/Europe Keyboards it's the Ö-Key. Little bit sucky because there are many words with an ö in German :) "Wer möcht schon das consölchen unten haben wenn man Wörter mit ö tippen möchte?" :)

There is also a "bug" that if u chat'n gamespy cannels or game related chats and the console opens the text u typed will get lost and also it is hard to send any other messages because it stucks in some kind of way. U have to open and close the console again to be able to chat on.

will they (Relic) be changing things so that ' doesn't open the console on european keyboards? it's very annoying when i'm chatting and typing things like "it's" & "i'm" and the damned console drops down...

if they can set it to the ` key i will be most appreciative

actually they've changed it in 1.4.
It's Control-Shift-Tilde now.
