Does anyone know what a sync error is? I get sync errors on the won servers now. Says something like new player joining then it drops me from the game with a sync error.

Sync errors should only happen in a game... they occur then the games running on each person's computer get out of sync with one another... happens in high lag conditions or when one computer can't keep up.
Can also happen when you fire an ion beam in a dust cloud.

Thanks, I didn't know what a sync error was. I just kept playing anyway. The other player was telling me about the game. It looked completely different from his propective. At some point I told him I that I think we are playing vs the computer and not against each other.
I was hosting the game. The player I was playing against had a real slow 366MHz celeron. We both use a dial-up so I guess we had a lag problem.
Is there a way set up Homeworld before hand if you know there will be high lag? As I remeber in StarCraft there was a setting for high lag games. The host set the game up before hand for a high lag game. All the problems in StarCraft went away after the host player changed the settings to high lag.

Cyber:
That's one of the things I've spoken about to some of the relic guys (and bitched about in some ancient threads), that there was no way to determine how the game would run on completely different systems.
There should be some kind of calculation happening to determine how 'fast' a game should run depending on the lowest common denominator.
