Y'know, I just realized why the XBOX is capable of such visuals while being only a like p800 with a Geforce2
's only rendering 640x480 in like 8-bit color.

Hmm, then why can't ordinary computers do that kind of thing??? Maybe they can, except that all the possibilities are unexploited... or maybe the OS takes up to many resources or something... Well, they ought to make a computer game of Halo...

I don't think you can really compare a PC with a console costing 1/5 of it's price...

The X-box GPU (NV2A) is a tweaked version of the Geforce3 (NV20) with an additional vertex shader (Geforce4 [NV25] also has two). It's obviously not as quick as a Ti 500 Geforce3 because of lower memory bandwidth (and less memory overall - Xbox got 64mb to use for everything). X-box games run in 640x480x32 (or 1024x768 in HDTV mode)
This is a daft poll because what ultimately makes a system succeed or fail are its games rather than its nerdy techy specs. I'm not going to get into fight about Tekken TT being better or worse than Soul Calibur because they run on different hardware - how sad is that?
RE: Silver Quasar...
The reason why the graphics on consoles are usually more detailed than a PC (albeit at much lower resolution) is because everyone has identical hardware. The X-box is basically a 733mhz pIII with 64mb and a modified GF3. Someone can write something that extracts every ounce of performance from that without having to worry about people with slower systems (ditto for every other console).

wow, what a totally new and refreshing topic of discussion.
The flaw begins with the topic of the post - "best gaming system".
Define what you mean by "best" and then ask yourself what you will gain by knowing our views, whilst causing the most inane flaming that this topic brings when it gets rolled out by another n00b every 6 weeks.
THIS THREAD: WINNER OF THIS WEEK'S "Panther's Pointless Pap" AWARD.

you know Goldeneye isnt the most recent shooter game by Nintendo, you got OO7:The World Is Not Enough, Perfect Dark, and the most recent is James Bond OO7 Agent Under Fire. (but of course this is also for the XBox and PS2) so if you want to say that Goldeneye is the most recent shooter from Nintendo, do some research first. :dunce: :flame: :fight:

YGB: Nobody said goldeneye was the most recent shooter on a Nintendo console,
Hougy: Anybody reduced to calling a console 'Gaycube' instantly loses all credibility with me, srries, try being intelligent instead of reactionary and bigoted next time? thx
How about we try to bring this thing on some kind of track...
With the current competition in the Videogame market between three next gen consoles, the Game Boy Advance and the PC, which machines are viable to continue and thrive in what appears to be an oversaturated market?

You know what, I voted PC on this poll. How much does my vote actually count? A big fat goose egg. Why? Because the PC is the only entity I have any amount of experience with. I haven't played with Gamecube or Xbox or any of the others with enough dedication to evaluate which system is truly the "best". I strongly suspect that about 95% of the others who've voted on this issue probably fall into what I'll deem the "biased" category.
Sorry, but I doubt there are enough unbiased viewers on this forum to make this a valid poll.
You are simply going to get everyone's opinion of what is best, not actually what is best. And as the Panther brought up, best in what way? Some systems perform better than others, while others are easier for the programmers to make games for, while others hit your pocketbook less, and still others have more games for them? So see, what you think of as "best" may not be what others do.
Blood dragon, there are many children who visit this site who's hands are still small. To refer to them as "freaks" is a bit overboard. Please refrain from such comments or we shall have to send you to "sensitivity training". K?
