DoW is moving along great as it is, but natrually it's not perfect and there are some issues (some have eluded my mind) that should be addressed to make it even better. Please remember before you reply to this thread that everyone has their own opinion of what should be changed and what else is just an error on part of the gamer and that you shouldn't simply reply that I am 'right' or 'wrong' but please try to refute me and argue sensibly. (I know, I know... I've already asked too much)
Dawn of War Beta Suggestions for next patch:
i) Double clicking numeric hot-key assigned squads should centre the screen on the selected squad.
ii) Lower vehicle population cap + raise vehicle population cost.
-why? this would help bring vehicles into the 'support' role of the game and ensure infantry dont become obsolete especially later in the game.
iii) Lower infantry population cap
-why? it promotes a more tactical use of infantry. Huge infantry armies (except perhaps for swarm-type races such as orks) arn't what makes this game fun, having several mobile well-equipped and strengthened squads moving around the map are.
iv) Remove 'Annihiliate' as a sole, primary objective and keep it as a secondary objective only
-why? let's face it, annihilite wasn't meant for this game... it causes certain imbalances that cant be addressed properly. the tutorial represents what the game should play like and it revolves around 'take and hold.'
v) Melta grenade cooldown should be lowered, or each squad of Assault Marines should be able to throw two per squad before recharging. Anti-armour grenades should be given access to all races.
-why? grenades may be the solution to a tank/dread surprise, this gives infantry a better immediate and controllable response to heavy armour when it first appears on the battlefield. Each race should have access to anti-armour grenades to allow for a smoother transition from pure infantry armies to infantry along with heavy armour support.
vi) Overwatch (applied with right-click mouse button) should only build one unit/squad and disable automatically.
-why? most times you're too busy conducting warfare and tactical affairs to concentrate on requisition being ill-spent on extra squads.
...well that's all I can think of right now, there are other things to be addressed as well, such as the assault marine sergent issue and the eldar eldritch storm abuse, but the main problem I felt the need to address was the current tank/infantry imbalances that are being cried all over the forums.
