View Full Version : Ign hints at relic DOW extras?

The Recent IGN single player article stated at the end that relic would be releasing extra material after the game comes out. Does that mean relic itself will produce more and release it for free, an expansion may come out, or relic will continue with its excellent mod support? or perhaps all of the above?

they released an "unofficial" mod/expansion for IC (although I never bought the game), so they may do something here.

This may be too big to release it for free, I dunno what they did for IC, but it would eat SO MUCH bandwidth to release a free one.

Thats true, but they could release it exclusively for Fileplanet, and they could deal with the bandwidth issues. Thats probably the most likely should they release a free download. Perhaps members of the relic team will mod the game unofficially?

They'll most likely make expansions with new races, addons for current races and perhaps new missions... maybe with different races being the center focal point...
but it will most likely not be free at all...
I think that with this beta being a free download people have forgotten that they will have to shell out the 50 some odd dollars for the actual game in a month

I'm skeptical about a new race being released for free. Especially an alien race such as the Nids or Crons. Not only would the unit animations for these races need to be created, but new unit animations for the existing races (A space marine probably wouldn't sweep then execute a tyranid... just doesn't seem right) would also have to be implemented.

But then thats just me.

Bit Torrent!

Blizzard has got on the BT bandwagon releasing a lot of their World of Warcraft movie clips using Bit Torrent.

Since Games Workshop is closely involved with GoW, I highly doubt any expansions will be free. The mods that the community will make are pretty exciting to think about though, and they will very likely be free.
