Everyone's talking about adding races to this game. I'm all for that, I really am.

But unless the army is given a once over by relic or some such, would you really trust it as perfectly balanced? I have a feeling that it could go the way that the TT goes, in that each time a race is re-done, it's codex adds features for bashing the previous armies, and you thus get an arms race where each new race is slightly better tan the ones before.

Unless new races are official - or a method for creating new races is made official (e.g. adding certain features for certain points costs - that would be cool), it will be difficult to encourage their use in normal games.

Just a thought.

I like the idea though of an 'army builder' where you pay a certain cost in ru's and pu's and build time for each thing you add - e.g. increase moral/health/aim/damage etc.

What you're talking about really is the maturity of the modders, thats all.

Its also possible that Relic have found a way to use the balancing from the codices.

IE that Armour values from all sides added up and multiplied by 10 gives the amount of hit points for that tank. Or something. If they've got formulae and release them it could be done like that.

If not, most serious modders are more into making something that adds to the playability and that they therefore get credit for, if they uber something up then they just get slagged by everyone who owns a different army, and become known as an immature joke.

I've got faith in the modding community, it takes too much work to then be childish about the playability.

Besides dont forget that mods are just that... a modification...
No one will be able to use their ubermodded and unbalanced army in any mulitplayer against you in anyway unless you want to download and use their mod.
Therefore it doesnt matterhow balanced an army is or if it is more powerful than the Relic-designed ones... becuz you dont have to use it if you dont want to...
