Hello,
I wanted to ask if it will be possible to play the beta offline.
I ask for the simple reason that I havn't got a flatrate
and I can't afford to be online for hours ...
Even a small LAN-feature would be enough.
And anothert question,
has there been a patch yet?
I can't find any download, although the patch is mentioned
several times all over the forum.
Greetings,

1. you can play the tutorial offline (all 4 races have a tutorial).
2. the patch is in the form of an auto update.

The 1.3 patch is included in the Open Beta download.
There is a 1.4 patch coming next week.

additionally, playing online doesn't even work,
"host cannot be found"
no matter which map, or gametype ...
I want to play!!!

Meh ya, but unlike most people who can't play the tutorial due to the AI bug, I can't play online either due to the Win98 lobby bug.

I must admit that I miss an offline skirmish mode in the beta, maybe restricted to 1-2 'real' maps, ie not the tutorial. Online multiplayer just doesn't interest me much.

I was under the impression that the open beta was to test the strengths of MP.
thus letting people play skirmish against only the AI is a bit silly.
On a related note is there any idea of what the 1.4 patch fixes or changes?

If we can't play MP or Tutorial then what >.>
I know it's fixing the Tutorial freeze, possibly the lobby problems. It may be fixing the E. Storm problem too, but I dunno.

I was assuming that the purpose of the beta was to find and squash bugs in multiplayer and presumably also in single player, since there will be a substantial single player element in the finished product.

Is there a thread here where you haven't said that already?

I pray that the next patch fixes the annoying yellow tint problem with GeForce cards. I want to be able to fully enjoy the graphics of the game without the awful looking discolouration.

I can't play the tutorial or get online as it stands. Which sucks.

Well, online play is good to flesh out blancing issues, but when it comes to bug-hunting, a more controled off-line environment is much more useful, imho. Being as the computer is a much less tenacious opponent, you're free to test out all the aspects of the game you want without being under much pressure to defend and attack. Oh well though, at least there's the tutorial.

Relic have almost certainly got their own internal team to handle stuff like that. The benefits a huge open beta really bring are increased general bug advisories, multiplayer code-testing and server-testing, wider range of hardware to test on and a bit of balance work
