oh thats perfect advice considerin space marines dont have any readily available ap 3 weapons! (cept for the "krak" missile launcher but thats only on shot!)
If its vanilla space marine vs vanilla then get a couple of scouts (i dunno maybe 2-3 squads) with at least 4 sniper rifles, this will cause pinning and you can ifiltrate them and maybe cause pinning on his assualt squads or anything that seems to be assualt oriented. Take some reg. marines if the points permit it( and some antivehicla weapons) and take a rhino with hunter killer to take out any one big dude. take a predator destructor (auto cannon and 2 heavy bolters this will deal lots of death). if the points permit take another destuctor and a dev squad with plasma cannons (yes its risky but the basts are worth it!) for fast attack bikes are good for their hihger toughness and with a heavy bolter attack bike they can lay down a torrent of rerolled death! Some assult marines might be good (but their pricy for what you get) You defintly want a dread with a close combat weapon to take out/halt a squad of marines. the heavy weapon can be for ur choosing but to be safe take one with assualt cannon and storm bolter to attck troops and another with miissle launcher and twinlinked lascannon for vehicals. Then if can spare soem points a termie assualt squad.... Hq-just a chaplain or something...with a pistol weapon (personally i like plasma) termie honours, and a power weapon becuause then you have LOTS of power weapon attacks.
good luck :smash:

Ok first off you must recognise that i am a tactical genius and worship me as such, go on worship me 'til your fingers bleed, then build me a temple out of loose change and honey. Ok, have you done that? good now you may bask in my glory as you win countless battles. First colect loads of cardboard tubes, then just before the game cover them in glue, at the ideal moment(only you know when this will be, i am your god and master not a freakin psycic) throw said tubes at your opponent and while he is destracted by the tubes and the glue cheat, cheat like hell. Remember i am thy god, worship me as such.

Hrm marine VS marine? Go Blood angels and get the tons of Dreadnaughts avalible thru them... special characters included i think you can have like 7 or some rediculace number, then just get backup squads to meatsheld the Dreadnaughts, or Deep strike, ether way, Dreadnaughts = t3h win.

Yeah, i didnt read any of the posts, but plasma will kill marines like nothing. i did see real quick some one point out AP3 weapons...this also a good choice. aslo, a Vindy tank, and that jsut about owns everything.

Okay Dante? No AP3 weapons? A tactical squad can have a plasmagun for 6 pts! then theres plasmacannons, krak missiles, lascannons... *grumbles* demolisher cannon...
And in an assault squad you *must* have some kind of power weapon. Otherwise you'll be in a marine HTH for a looong time.
And a few of you seem pretty confident that 3 dreads will win you the game. Thats the better part of a thousand points and against them i'd put money on a tactical squad with missile launcher/lascannons and a plasma gun making a fair bit more than its points back. Then theres a number of multi-meltas and missile launchers to face as well... Take my word. That is one hell of a bad idea. Dreads will die. And they will die easily. Keeping them hull down is the only way they'll have achance and you only have a sningle smoke launcher so i'd be pretty damn careful if I were you and only taking one or two for combat...
