So is it a bug that says that you can have 2 squads in them?
Skewerd

As far as I remember, all of my squads have appeared in separate drop pods too.
Is it possible to do it otherwise then?

I think so, as it also says there are 2 slots in the drop pods, can someone please clear this up as i'm sure alot of people would like to know whether you can or can't, and if you can, how?

It may be a bug, The say way Dreadnaughts taunt you with the greyed out reinforce button.

It is possible.
dreads are too big to go with another but Marine squads stationed inside the orbital station/barracks can and will drop in the same pod if they are both ready to drop.
ive done it a few times as i use Drop pods and deepstrikes in coordination with some "cloaked" scouts.
its always worth a laugh when your enemy attacks your ally and you drop almost a full army right in behind his.

nothing is better than dropping an all termy/dreadnought army into the back of your opponent's base!

I've seen this, actually. One time I stuck my FC and Librarian in the Relay and when I deepstriked it dropped both of them in the same pod.

I think you need to use the "Unload All" button in the Orbital Relay rather than just clicking and targeting units individually...
Works for me :D

however that makes the units dropped come out of the players direct control so it would be better if you simply selct the units you intend to load into the drop pod and then hit a drop button

Well, what I always do is just load the units to the Orbital Relay so that two squads that I want to be dropped together are next to each other on the drop list (and of course, as has been said and now should be somewhat obvious, I use Unload All button).
Ok, maybe I don't do that because I just don't bother with such nuances but I still think that should work :).
Would be cool though to just select the units you want to be dropped in one drop pod as Raven said.
Another cool things IMO would be:
- dynamic (i.e. not discriminating units and buildings) indication of areas in which you can drop the pods - I often try to make synchronised drops of 3 or 4 pods and I just hate looking for an open space for one drop pod in the thick of the battle when other 2 are already en route - the fact that one drop pod comes 5 or 10 seconds after all other just violates my aesthetic sense (this is somehow related to the third point of this list);
- the ability to drop 'em on infatry or at least to have some (bigger?) splash damage as was shown on one E3 movie (as of now, in 1.3 patch, I haven't noticed any splash damage - maybe that's for balance reasons but it's just too cool to watch enemy units go flying in the air);
- the ability to put the pods in a Wait For The Signal (or something) stance so that you could designate the targets for all drop pods individually without the necessity of actually dropping them. When the right time comes with the click of one button you could drop 'em all at once (some small random discrepancies would probably be welcomed tho') on the previously designated areas, provided that those areas are still in your field of vision;
P.S.: Hopefully I didn't copied anyone elses post, I just joined in and haven't done any lurking at all.
Using the occasion I'd like to say hi to all members and especially to those from the Warhammer Online (RIP) forums! :)

I like the idea of being able to target drop pods on infantry; if having 'em do too much damage is a balance issue, then make it fairly low damage, and just send troops flying, like a whirlwind rocket.

This is how I do it, and it allways work with me:
You need to fill the Orbital Relay up with Marines or Scouts (Not dreadnaughts), all 6 spots have to be filled, then you don't click on the units, instead click on the unload button (hotkey E), and the first 2 drop pods will drop 2 units at once, somehow, it seems as the Orbital Relay only has 4 drop pods, so if you put 6 units into it, the 2 last units get dropped with the 2 first ones, I know that the Orbital Relay doesn't really have any drop pods, it just sends them into orbit, but this was the best explanation I could give.

When units get knocked around, they suffer morale penalties. Also, the time they're not attacking(getting up) is easily a few bolter shots. Knocking them over would also be retarded, people would abuse the feature, expecially to knock units out of cover. Drop Pods can only hold a certain ammount of cargo, that's why you can only drop a certain number of men from a single drop pod.
What I want to know, is how you reinforce squads before dropping them.

ummm reinforce a marine squad... then put it in orbital relay what's so difficult?

Because he, like meself, didn't know you COULD put already built platoons into the orbital relay to drop them. Can you do that with mechanical units too?
Particularly with terminators, I'd like to be able to reinforce/upgrade the squad without having to deep-strike em in first.
Is there any way to do this? If not, why not?

bloopgun,
YES.
ROAF,
YES. Deepstrike them into your base, reinforce/upgrade as desired, load them back into the relay.

The splash damage/drop on troops has been address by a Relic rep in another form. It will be there but for now the pods need space to spon the units in them. (a coding thing) The release will have the drop a pod on a unit and watch it fly effect. It will also have a longer delay in dropping. (will not drop as soon as you pick a spot, said it will take a few seconds didn't say how many)
bloopgun,
YES.
ROAF,
YES. Deepstrike them into your base, reinforce/upgrade as desired, load them back into the relay.
Thanks, but I was wondering if you could do it without the deepstrike into your own base thing. I feel that it's an unnecessary step, & it would be "cleaner" if you could just do it before they're deployed.

I think it was a gameplay decision that you shouldn't be able to pimp out a squad while its invulnerable (i.e. in the orbital relay).
In order to reinforce or upgrade, the unit has to be in some way vulnerable to attack.

Ok, to drop two squads at once, just load up the orbital relay to full capacity and have at least two infantry squads in it, then hit the drop button. at least one of the pods will have two squads in it.
*NOTE: You do not get six drop pods, you only get 3, you get 6 drop pod spots, each drop pod having two.

So you can load any unit into the drop pods? As in just walk them up to the orbital relay and then you can drop them wherever?
I was always just building the units in the orbital relay and dropping those, i had no idea you could drop other units.

Is this possible for Chaos aswell ?
deep strike my Obliterators in my base, reinforce em.
and put em back in the Deamon Pit, so i can at a later time deep strike where i need em ?
