ok,I got the GMax but when i get on it dosent say GMax it says NuGraf I was like WTF then I ask myself how can you make units on this?Then for IC thing I cant get on it says something.dll do I need a winzip well i just downloaded.

did you get gmax from discreet? did you install anything with it, like plugins?

well, you have to model whatever unit you want first and then it goes from there.

and what IC "thing" are you talking about?

no it didnt come with a model it just blank with a floor with a bunch of little dots whats descreet

it took me a while to understand what you posted, but i think i got it. gmax doesnt model things for you, you have to do it :p if you have no experience in modding at all this could be difficult, but everyone learns somewhere. discreet is the maker of gmax and 3ds and many other graphic programs. http://www.discreet.com/

this is gmax, if you didn't recognize discreet in my post then you probably have the wrong program. http://www4.discreet.com/gmax/

i dont know many tutorials for gmax itself but i do for 3ds. you can try to follow them but they might have some tools or funtions that gmax doesnt. here ya go...

read the tutorials - 3d applications are very complicated affairs, they take years to understand and master even on a basic level. ive been studying for well over 5 and would only consider myself above average.

is possible take coding like a Choad Lord in the grahpics and change everything like his face his,weapon into a deamon sword,and so on?oh yah thanks Moz3ltov,looked on for just a leg dam that is alot of work f*ck.

we dont hace access to the code - or the actually mesh, which is what u would want.

so u have to do it yourself. if u look at a model u will see sharp points and edges , u have to manualy in 3d move all these into postion - start by using basic shapes like a box. and manipulating.

the code to make somthing behave like the weapon u want - is actually hard code, prolly a few lines which in turn talks to the game engine.

Video games are VERY complex things.

is there some system that can get the DoW code to make it alot easyer on me or I have to do all the really hard work by mouse.

Yah making a leg,started having a box then gradully moved into a leg it was pretty kool but i knew it was not easy but if know it would be.

well what about it's size,I dont want the special character too big.

at present the code isnt available and dont expect it will be any time soon - as its under copyright, and if released anyone could use thiere 3d engine or thier models.

Keep up with the leg - learn the tools of the trade and such and see how u get on, tutorials are very usefull - isnt there an Orc tut that comes with gmax?

As for size i wouldnt worry to much about that as u can scale the entire thing once its made :)

oh relic is trusting us to keep this minumin.You think it will be out around the demo,cuz i dont want to make a race all I want to do is make a special character the program i hope I can get at least past the foot.Ok now I dont have to srink everything to get's normal size I just hope I can have a good enough 3d models good as them?=

its very rare for game code to ever be released - dev tools yes, like map and level makers. but not the code.
It also unlikely without some good coding know how that u would be able to rip a moel straight out of a dev tool either, so the chances of getting your hands on a space marine mesh for example is pretty slim. u can generally only 'mod' an existing one or start from scratch yourself, which is what most ppl tend to do. as its easier to get things into a mod tool then take them out.

Practise is the best way to get as good as Relic. it takes alot of time to make good low polygon models - i think the rule for these in this game is about 2000 triangles.

Questions the developers will need to answer (art team):

What's the polycount for a typical unit/infantry - armoured vehicle?

Were the characters rigged on CS or on a standard bone setup?

What skinning tool was used? Plain skin? Physique? Bones Pro?

Framerate for standard animations? 15 fps is typical in shooters (its then resampled to 30), but in the case of DoW they might have saved on animation data and gone with 10 or even 5...?

With this information, once the tools come out all you'll need to do is export your model and animations.

Modding information will be released after the game is out, but I'll try to do my best to answer some of the stuff we do know at the moment.

1. The high-res version of the units (Scaled closest) for infantry is around 2000 tris, while large units go up around 3000. I would think the optimized versions would be about half of that, or maybe even a third.

2. I believe Relic uses Character Studio to rig their characters. To my knowledge all the characters use an IK setup, no FK or geoset animation at all.

3. For GMAX users, I know Relic released a special script/program specifically for rigging an IK setup. If you already have Character Studio however, I think you can use this as well.

4. No clue as of yet, I wouldn't start animation until the game is out.

these new races/character mods sound really cool but theres one problem. if you want to play with them the person your playing against will have to have them too. and if there is...how many ever there would be, its going to be really hard to do. unless all these mods are just for sp mostly.

for poly count i wasn't sure. so when i made my tank i tried to keep it as low as i could. its around 600 polys right now. i dont know much about animating but i was planning on doing that after release.

well for the special characters,they gonna have the same attacks as the FC or CL.If I come around making like for Abaddon for instense he has two weapons he will cost more like 350 than 260 to make the game more fair.Well yah it would be retarded have mod army totally unbalaced I total agree with u.

You did that leg,dam your good.All I have right now is a red box right now lol still trying to fool around with.
