View Full Version : gorkamorka - a possible mod idea?

i realise a heap of people are discussing possible mods but i was wondering if it was worth considering going down the 'mild rpg' route.

admitedly gorka morka would'nt be as easy to mod as say, a new race, but in principle it could be a sure fire sucsess. considering that the game itself was fairly popular and it added an interesting twist on the traditional 40k playing style, maybe it could do the same for dow.

after much thought and a number of beers me and a few of the guys at HVK decided what we'd do if we had any remote modding talent.

first off, gorka morka is a smaller game with less units but more customisation, sinse the 'add weapon' tabs are already in the game im sure it would'nt be hard to mod changes to singular units. we were thinking buttons for 'mad doc' additions and shooters, which could be randomised (mimicing the games roles between matches) and would definately make for a unique look.

so as stated, the units as such, as long as new more diverse skins were applyed (rather then 15 orcs all looking the same) the troops are easy, with commanders being replaced with nobs in this game.

the major issue is vehicles, as ive not seen in dow any ability to run down opponants, or any vehicles which show the units boarding them or standing upon them. if we can somehow make it display the orcs on the back of trucks, that'd be sweet, and emulate the tabletop game itself. add into this a vehicle on vehicle damage system and weve got it covered. sinse close combat units are capable of throwing other smaller units away, why cant trucks on contact with base units make them fly?

awh don't do gorkamorka - do Necromunda and include the ashen wastes and any extra rulesets you can get...

people have sugested necromunda and argued against and for it. so make a point there please.

The way you would do Gorka Morka is you have 2 guys play Ork and fight ta da Gorka Morka

clearly your all missing the point, but ill put it down to a lack of understanding rather then stupidity.

ive raised the points that would need changing etc..i just want to know if anyones considered such a mod

lol - aren't we big 'eaded 2day? where is the necromunda discussion, i was away for a week musta missed it.

Necromunda is better because it can incoporate anything and everything that makes Gorkamorka special, Orks and Buggies on Sand. - Hence the ashen wastes, and if you look around there are rulesets for orks, chaos, anything and everything is in that there Hive Primus. - Much more scope for whatever people wish to put in as far as my never-played-gorkamorka eyes see it.

also surely its a possibility to edit the imperial guard that will be cameo in DoW easily to suit small gangs, just make new weapons.
you say - ah, but orks are an mp race so much better to do gorkamorka.. so? you can have orks in Necromunda like I said above so its all good.

neways the main thing for ne small gang based mod wud be how u go about making terrain more usable than it is, like buildings etc and vehicles with all kindsa modded bits, perhaps make it so vehicles mod individually...

neway I dunno how to mod, if u do and u want to make gorkamorka go ahead. otherwise remove ur ego and let sum1 that can mod come along... the ppl that can mod will mod w/e they want to mod... not what we want them to... cos if they get pressured to much, erm... i dunno i 'spect it'd annoy 'em is all.

nice try at making a point their raa. ive no ego in this, but you did miss the point. im not against a necromunda mod atall, i think it'd look good, but what im saying is gorkamorka had a more vehicle intense system with more crashing and emashing etc. i was wondering if people could mod physics into vehicle collisions etc and i thought it would of been a wonderful idea.

P.S accsents prove nothin'.

Vehicle which runs down opponents: Squiggoth.
-Just give the "Rampage" ability to all vehicles. Obviously, this still doesn't address the vehicle-vehicle collisions issue(unless there's a way to edit Rampage so it damages vehicles as well), but it's at least a step in the right direction.

I'm glad to see at least one other person's thinking about a Gorkamorka mod.

If you don't know how to mod, please don't start a thread saying something like, "I don't know how to do anything, but it would be cool to have a mod based on X." You can't expect the people who do have mod skills to make a mod just because you want it. I will lock your thread if you post an idea for a mod and provide no evidence that you are working on it.
