Do any of you who have Imperial Flyers use the bases from forgeworld or did u just make your own? If you did make your own I would like to know how big they should be? Should they be a certain size?

actually most of the imperial navy flyers are in "landed" postiton (they have their landing gear out) and its usually enuf to keep the model stable. i built my vulture slightly off and the wings dont touch the ground so i have to fix that somehow... Anyways its tought to make a stand because you would need to find teh point of ballence and drill into it. Resin is not super tough and if drill in wrong spot it can shatter (or so i have been told) so dont try it... or be extra careful when trying it

What's wrong if I glue the flyer to the stand?

You cant just glue a stick to the bottom of it...you need a hole or some form of pinning to hold it in...otherwise it would be too unstable. You can do it its just you have to drill resin (which i kinda hard to do) and the dust is really nasty...

Why is this in rules? and why do you also have one in general?

I have FIVE Imperial Navy Flyers (3 Valkyries, 1 Vulture, and a lightning Strike). Why do I have flyers?? Cause they kick serious ass and Stormtroopers look good with a valkyrie as their transport.

cool...well then you can experiment with one valkyrie and if that is messed up you can learn from mistakes and do it onto the others! haha :D but damn that must have taken some serius $! have you finished any of them? or is the base issue hindering their progress?

Lol, no I ain't even started on them yet. Still deciding on a good color schem since they did cost serious $!! And the reason I posted this on rules is I wanna know if there's a rule that states how big a base should be for this thing since I'm wanna make my own bases. So you're valk has no base? Are'nt you supposed to measure the distance it moves and the distance an enemy shoots at it from a base?

I also want to see if I can make transparent bases (like the ones used for tyranid gargoyles) so that they can almost look like they're flying. Any suggestions?

To the base of flyer +12 inches. Only hit on 6 no matter the BS unless you got an AA mount ;S..I wonder if theres any rules for ordnance shooting down flyers :D

Imperial Navy Pilot: "This is Two Zero Alpha, approaching targ...Holy blokes my wingman just got hit a whirlwind.." :D

According to Imperial Armor Vol 1 :Imperial Guard & Navy, barrage and ordnance weapons cant shoot at flyers.

The the base doesn't actually have to be 12 inches...thats just the rule to represent lil guys using their bolters to try and hit a flying hting going at hihg speeds in the air (need 6+ to hit) so a base ins't nessacry for rules but it gives a better feel...cuz its liek flying. and also valkyries have to land to release passengers (stuff liek that)
