Hi - I downloaded and installed the patch - then i joined a game and what did I see??

The graphics, especially the textures of buildings and units where totally blurry and crappy...

I looked up my settings in the game - all the same.
Settings of the grafic-card - all the same.

So - what the hell is going on here?

Doesnt happen for me. Of course, i need to lower the graphics settings a little bit to squeeze that extra bit of performance...

The game drops a texture detail level in multiplayer due to the huge memory requirments.

It was fine with higher graphics on 1.3, it was much better. I really hope this is changed back for the final release, or the next beta patch (if there will be one).

The drop is fine mecha, however I think some people have more memory, and thus they can use the higher textures.

So a "extra" detail setting above "high" is alwways welcome.

I always say be future proof with you textures/model detail, its one of the easiest things to do to a game to make it future proof.
An example is HW2 or Farcry. HW2 had ini files you could use to ramp up the LOD distance and the draw distance, plus alot more.
Farcry has really high textures, that most of the hardware when it was released could not cope with at full whack. Now, its still popular with the high end pcs.

Do not fear, in the final game, there is already a way to disable this memory optimization. Also, the drop is only on team coloured textures, not all textures in general.

That's fantastic, thanks :)

But why put it in now that way... impossible for us to disable it??

Probably just trying it out, it is a beta afterall.

I think I had this problem once. Try turning off anti aliasing and anistrophic filtering. When I had those on, I ran into display problems and the font was screwed up, even on my 9800 pro.

i dont want to put down my settings... a game has to run on every pc with every thinkable setting :)

But yeah, its a beta...
